SOPHIA One-Day Study Conference Announced at SGIOC Brisbane

The Malankara Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) Brisbane has officially announced “SOPHIA”, a one-day study conference to be held at St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane on Saturday, 30th May 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

The conference will feature Sub Deacon Stephan Sabu as the keynote speaker, who will lead sessions aimed at deepening spiritual understanding and strengthening faith among participants.

The official poster for the event was launched by the Vicar, Rev. Fr. Anish Mathew, at St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane, on 3rd May 2026.

The name “SOPHIA”, derived from the Greek word for “Wisdom,” holds deep significance in the Orthodox tradition. It refers to Divine Wisdom—not merely human knowledge, but the wisdom that comes from God. In Orthodox theology, this wisdom is ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ, the “Wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:24), guiding believers towards truth, faith, and salvation.

“SOPHIA” promises to be a meaningful gathering for learning, reflection, and fellowship, bringing together members of the community for a day of spiritual enrichment.
