¹Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.

²The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”

³He told them this parable:

⁴“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?

⁵When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

⁶When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

⁷I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.

⁸“Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?

⁹When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’

¹⁰Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”

¹ചുങ്കക്കാരും പാപികളും എല്ലാം അവന്റെ വചനം കേൾപ്പാൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

²ഇവൻ പാപികളെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവരോടുകൂടി ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പറഞ്ഞു പിറുപിറുത്തു.

³അവരോടു അവൻ ഈ ഉപമ പറഞ്ഞു:

⁴നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു ആൾക്കു നൂറു ആടുണ്ടു എന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ. അതിൽ ഒന്നു കാണാതെ പോയാൽ അവൻ തൊണ്ണൂറ്റൊമ്പതിനെയും മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിട്ടേച്ചു. ആ കാണാതെപോയതിനെ കണ്ടെത്തുംവരെ നോക്കി നടക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ?

⁵കണ്ടു കിട്ടിയാൽ സന്തോഷിച്ചു ചുമലിൽ എടുത്തു വീട്ടിൽ വന്നു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെയും അയൽക്കാരെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി:

⁶കാണാതെ പോയ എന്റെ ആടിനെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടു എന്നോടു കൂടെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിൻ എന്നു അവരോടു പറയും.

⁷അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മാനസാന്തരം കൊണ്ടു ആവശ്യമില്ലാത്ത തൊണ്ണൂറ്റൊമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ളതിനെക്കാൾ മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു പാപിയെച്ചൊല്ലി സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ അധികം സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

⁸അല്ല, ഒരു സ്ത്രീക്കു പത്തു ദ്രഹ്മ ഉണ്ടു എന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ; ഒരു ദ്രഹ്മ കാണാതെ പോയാൽ അവൾ വിളകൂ കത്തിച്ചു വീടു അടിച്ചുവാരി അതുകണ്ടുകിട്ടുംവരെ സൂക്ഷ്മത്തോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോു?

⁹കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയാൽ സ്നേഹിതമാരെയും അയൽക്കാരത്തികളെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി: കാണാതെപോയ ദ്രഹ്മ കണ്ടു കിട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടു എന്നോടുകൂടെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറയും. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു പാപിയെക്കുറിച്ചു ദൈവദൂതന്മാരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

²⁵Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them,

²⁶“If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.

²⁷Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross and come after me, can’t be my disciple.

²⁸For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

²⁹Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and isn’t able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,

³⁰saying, ‘This man began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

³¹Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

³²Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.

³³So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.

³⁴“Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?

³⁵It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

²⁵ഏറിയ പുരുഷാരം അവനോടുകൂടെ പോകുമ്പോൾ അവൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു:

²⁶എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരികയും അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും സഹോദരികളെയും സ്വന്തജീവനെയും കൂടെ പകെക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാൻ കഴികയില്ല.

²⁷തന്റെ ക്രൂശു എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരാത്തവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയില്ല.

²⁸നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഗോപുരം പണിവാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചാൽ ആദ്യം ഇരുന്നു അതു തീർപ്പാൻ വക ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു കണകൂ നോക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

²⁹അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടശേഷം തീർപ്പാൻ വകയില്ല എന്നു വന്നേക്കാം;

³⁰കാണുന്നവർ എല്ലാം; ഈ മനുഷ്യർ പണിവാൻ തുടങ്ങി, തീർപ്പാനോ വകയില്ല എന്നു പരിഹസിക്കുമല്ലോ.

³¹അല്ല, ഒരു രാജാവു മറ്റൊരു രാജാവിനോടു പട ഏല്പാൻ പുറപ്പെടുംമുമ്പേ ഇരുന്നു, ഇരുപതിനായിരവുമായി വരുന്നവനോടു താൻ പതിനായിരവുമായി എതിർപ്പാൻ മതിയോ എന്നു ആലോചിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

³²പോരാ എന്നു വരികിൽ മറ്റവൻ ദൂരത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ സ്ഥാനാപതികളെ അയച്ചു സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

³³അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരെങ്കിലും തനിക്കുള്ളതു ഒക്കെയും വിട്ടുപിരിയുന്നില്ല എങ്കിൽ അവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാൻ കഴികയില്ല.

³⁴ഉപ്പു നല്ലതു തന്നേ; ഉപ്പു കാരമില്ലാതെ പോയാൽ എന്തൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു രസം വരുത്തും?

³⁵പിന്നെ നിലത്തിന്നും വളത്തിന്നും കൊള്ളുന്നതല്ല; അതിനെ പുറത്തു കളയും. കേൾപ്പാൻ ചെവി ഉള്ളവൻ കേൾക്കട്ടെ

²¹Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

²²The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

²³The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

²⁴In the morning watch, Yahweh looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army.

²⁵He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh fights for them against the Egyptians!”

²⁶Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”

²⁷Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.

²⁸The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.

²⁹But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

³⁰Thus Yahweh saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

³¹Israel saw the great work which Yahweh did to the Egyptians, and the people feared Yahweh; and they believed in Yahweh and in his servant Moses.

²¹മോശെ കടലിന്മേൽ കൈനീട്ടി; യഹോവ അന്നു രാത്രി മുഴുവനും മഹാശക്തിയുള്ള ഒരു കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റുകൊണ്ടു കടലിനെ പിൻ വാങ്ങിച്ചു ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലം ആക്കി; അങ്ങനെ വെള്ളം തമ്മിൽ വേർപിരിഞ്ഞു.

²³മിസ്രയീമ്യർ പിന്തുടർന്നു; ഫറവോന്റെ കുതിരയും രഥങ്ങളും കുതിരപ്പടയും എല്ലാം അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ കടലിന്റെ നടുവിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.

²⁴പ്രഭാതയാമത്തിൽ യഹോവ അഗ്നിമേഘസ്തംഭത്തിൽനിന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യസൈന്യത്തെ നോക്കി മിസ്രയീമ്യസൈന്യത്തെ താറുമാറാക്കി.

²⁵അവരുടെ രഥചക്രങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിച്ചു ഔട്ടം പ്രായസമാക്കി. അതുകൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമ്യർ: നാം യിസ്രായേലിനെ വിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോക; യഹോവ അവർക്കും വേണ്ടി മിസ്രയീമ്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു: വെള്ളം മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ മേലും അവരുടെ രഥങ്ങളിൻ മേലും കുതിരപ്പടയുടെമേലും മടങ്ങി വരേണ്ടതിന്നു കടലിന്മേൽ കൈനീട്ടുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

²⁷മോശെ കടലിന്മേൽ കൈ നീട്ടി; പുലർച്ചെക്കു കടൽ അതിന്റെ സ്ഥിതിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നു. മിസ്രയീമ്യർ അതിന്നു എതിരായി ഔടി; യഹോവ മിസ്രയീമ്യരെ കടലിന്റെ നടുവിൽ തള്ളിയിട്ടു.

²⁸വെള്ളം മടങ്ങിവന്നു അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ കടലിലേക്കു ചെന്നിരുന്ന രഥങ്ങളെയും കുതിരപ്പടയെയും ഫറവോന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെയും എല്ലാം മുക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ പോലും ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.

²⁹യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ കടലിന്റെ നടുവെ ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോയി; വെള്ളം അവരുടെ ഇടത്തും വലത്തും മതിലായി നിന്നു.

³⁰ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ ആ ദിവസം യിസ്രായേല്യരെ മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിച്ചു; മിസ്രയീമ്യർ കടൽക്കരയിൽ ചത്തടിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുന്നതു യിസ്രായേല്യർ കാണുകയും ചെയ്തു.

³¹യഹോവ മിസ്രയീമ്യരിൽ ചെയ്ത ഈ മഹാപ്രവൃത്തി യിസ്രായേല്യർ കണ്ടു; ജനം യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു, യഹോവയിലും അവന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെയിലും വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

⁴Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel to Ramah.

⁵They said to him, “Behold, you are old, and your sons don’t walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

⁶But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.”

⁷Yahweh said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they tell you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me as the king over them.

⁸According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, in that they have forsaken me and served other gods, so they also do to you.

⁹Now therefore, listen to their voice. However, you shall protest solemnly to them, and shall show them the way of the king who will reign over them.”

⁴ആകയാൽ യിസ്രായേൽമൂപ്പന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി, രാമയിൽ ശമൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, അവനോടു:

⁵നീ വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ നിന്റെ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കുന്നില്ല; ആകയാൽ സകല ജാതികൾക്കുമുള്ളതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ നിയമിച്ചുതരേണമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶ഞങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവിനെ തരേണമെന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യം ശമൂവേലിന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി. ശമൂവേൽ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.

⁷യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ജനം നിന്നോടു പറയുന്ന സകലത്തിലും അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേൾക്ക; അവർ നിന്നെയല്ല, ഞാൻ അവരെ ഭരിക്കാതവണ്ണം എന്നെയാകുന്നു ത്യജിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു.

⁸ഞാൻ അവരെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെ അവർ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചും അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിന്നോടും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

⁹ആകയാൽ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേൾക്ക; എങ്കിലും അവരോടു ഘനമായി സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു അവരെ വാഴുവാനിരിക്കുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ ന്യായം അവരോടു അറിയിക്കേണം.

¹But now Yahweh who created you, Jacob,

²When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,

³For I am Yahweh your God,

⁴Since you have been precious and honored in my sight,

⁵Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.

¹ഇപ്പോഴോ യാക്കോബേ, നിന്നെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചവനും, യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്നെ നിർമ്മിച്ചവനുമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വീണ്ടെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ പേർ ചൊല്ലി വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എനിക്കുള്ളവൻ തന്നേ.

³നിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനുമായ യഹോവ എന്ന ഞാൻ നിന്റെ രക്ഷകൻ ; നിന്റെ മറുവിലയായി ഞാൻ മിസ്രയീമിനെയും നിനക്കു പകരമായി കൂശിനെയും സെബയെയും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁴നീ എനിക്കു വില ഏറിയവനും മാന്യനും ആയി ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ചിരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പകരം മനുഷ്യരെയും നിന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം ജാതികളെയും കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

⁵ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു; നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ ഞാൻ കിഴക്കുനിന്നു വരുത്തുകയും പടിഞ്ഞാറു നിന്നു നിന്നെ ശേഖരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

²²Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

²³Whoever denies the Son doesn’t have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.

²⁴Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.

²⁵This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life.

²⁶These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray.

²⁷As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.

²⁸Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

²⁹If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

²²യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല എന്നു നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവൻ അല്ലാതെ കള്ളൻ ആർ ആകുന്നു? പിതാവിനെയും പുത്രനെയും നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവൻ തന്നേ എതിർക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു.

²³പുത്രനെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന്നു പിതാവുമില്ല; പുത്രനെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവന്നു പിതാവും ഉണ്ടു.

²⁴നിങ്ങൾ ആദിമുതൽ കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കട്ടെ. ആദിമുതൽ കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ പുത്രനിലും പിതാവിലും വസിക്കും.

²⁵ഇതാകുന്നു അവൻ നമുക്കു തന്ന വാഗ്ദത്തം: നിത്യജീവൻ തന്നേ.

²⁶നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കുന്നവരെ ഓൎത്തു ഞാൻ ഇതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

²⁷അവനാൽ പ്രാപിച്ച അഭിഷേകം നിങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാൻ ആവശ്യമില്ല; അവന്റെ അഭിഷേകം തന്നേ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സകലവും ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയാലും അതു ഭോഷ്ക്കല്ല സത്യം തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കയാലും അതു നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ അവനിൽ വസിപ്പിൻ.

¹⁰Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

¹²For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

¹³Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

¹⁴Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹⁵and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace,

¹⁶above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

¹⁷And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

¹⁰ഒടുവിൽ കർത്താവിലും അവന്റെ അമിത ബലത്തിലും ശക്തിപ്പെടുവിൻ .

¹¹പിശാചിന്റെ തന്ത്രങ്ങളോടു എതിർത്തുനില്പാൻ കഴിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സർവ്വായുധവർഗ്ഗം ധരിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ .

¹⁶കാലിന്നു ചെരിപ്പാക്കിയും എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും മീതെ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ തീയമ്പുകളെ ഒക്കെയും കെടുക്കുവാന്തക്കതായ വിശ്വാസം എന്ന പരിച എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടും നില്പിൻ .

¹⁷രക്ഷ എന്ന ശിരസ്ത്രവും ദൈവവചനം എന്ന ആത്മാവിന്റെ വാളും കൈക്കൊൾവിൻ .

⁴⁴ഏതു വൃക്ഷത്തെയും ഫലംകൊണ്ടു അറിയാം. മുള്ളിൽനിന്നു അത്തിപ്പഴം ശേഖരിക്കുകയും ഞെരിഞ്ഞിലിലിൽ നിന്നു മുന്തിരിങ്ങാ പറിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമാറില്ലല്ലോ.

⁴⁵നല്ലമനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നല്ല നിക്ഷേപത്തിൽ നിന്നു നല്ലതു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടൻ ദോഷമായതിൽ നിന്നു ദോഷം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നു. ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിറഞ്ഞു കവിയുന്നതല്ലോ വായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നതു.
