Blood Donation Drive Hosted by St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane – October 2024

Date: Sunday, 20th October 2024
Location: St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane

Today, St. George Indian Orthodox Church (SGIOC) in Brisbane successfully held a Blood Donation Drive in partnership with the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM), Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM), and Red Cross Australia. The event, hosted at 479 Mount Petrie Rd, MacKenzie QLD, saw a strong turnout from the church community, with approximately 40 members generously donating blood to help those in need.

The drive was a great success, emphasizing the importance of blood donation and how each donation can save lives. Among the many dedicated donors was the Vicar of the church, Rev. Fr. Liju Samuel, who led by example by donating his blood as well. His participation inspired many within the community and demonstrated the compassionate spirit of the church.

After their donations, participants were treated to a simple meal of bread and omelets, fostering a warm atmosphere of fellowship and gratitude. The event highlighted the strong sense of unity and support within the church, as members came together to serve a greater cause.

The blood donation drive was a clear reflection of the values of compassion, service, and solidarity that St. George Indian Orthodox Church upholds. The organizers expressed heartfelt thanks to all who participated and helped make the event a success. With the growing demand for blood donations, this initiative has encouraged more people to consider donating in future drives and continue supporting important causes within the community.
