Haemo 2025 Blood Donation Drive by St. George Indian Orthodox Church Brisbane – Donate Today, Save Tomorrow
Brisbane, 19 October 2025 — The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) of St. George Indian Orthodox Church Brisbane, together with the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM), successfully hosted the annual Haemo 2025 blood donation drive in partnership with the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
The event, held at 479 Mount Petrie Road, Mackenzie QLD 4156, took place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. under the inspiring theme “Donate Today, Save Tomorrow.” It was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Anish Mathew, Vicar of St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane. In his address, Rev. Fr. Anish Mathew commended the youth for their dedication to serving the community and highlighted the importance of compassion-driven initiatives that reflect the Christian values of love and service. His words set a positive and uplifting tone for the day, encouraging all attendees to give selflessly and bring hope to others.
The drive witnessed a strong turnout, with around 50 generous donors stepping forward to give blood. Each donation has the potential to save up to three lives, meaning the collective effort of the community could help more than 150 people in need of vital blood supplies. The event not only demonstrated unity and generosity but also served as an educational opportunity, raising awareness about the continuing need for blood donations across Australia.
The success of Haemo 2025 was made possible through the efforts of the organising team — Sibi, Joji, Sophy, Anna, and Milan — who coordinated the event with the assistance of Red Cross Australia. Their teamwork ensured a smooth and welcoming environment for all participants.
Carrying the heartfelt message “Give Blood, Give Hope”, the Haemo 2025 drive stood as a testament to the power of community spirit and compassion. The organisers extended their sincere gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and supporters, emphasising that even small acts of giving can make a profound difference in saving lives and strengthening the bonds of humanity.
