Old Friends Reconnect: Syro-Malankara & Malankara Orthodox Leaders Meet in Brisbane

Brisbane, Australia – In a heartfelt and memorable reunion, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Mar Silvanos, Bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia and Apostolic Visitor to Oceania of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, visited His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Assistant Metropolitan of the Asia-Pacific Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, at St George Indian Orthodox Church in Brisbane.

His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros was in Brisbane to lead the Passion Week services at St George Indian Orthodox Church. During this time, His Excellency Dr. Antony Mar Silvanos made a fraternal visit to personally reconnect with his old friend and former classmate.

Having previously spent time together in Rome, this meeting in Brisbane offered a special opportunity to reflect, reminisce, and strengthen the long-standing bond they share. Though they now serve in different ecclesial traditions, their friendship and mutual respect remain as strong as ever.

The reunion was a touching reminder of the unity that can exist across church lines, especially within the vibrant Indian Christian community in Australia.
