OVBS 2025 Day 1: A Blessed and Joyful Start

Brisbane, September 25, 2025 – The Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) 2025 at St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane began with great enthusiasm on Thursday morning. The three-day program, themed “Walk in Purity” (Psalms 119:9), opened with a prayer and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by the parish vicar, Rev. Fr. Anish Mathew, alongside the children.
The church campus at Mackenzie came alive as children, dressed in their blue attire for Day 1, gathered with excitement. The morning sessions introduced the theme through Bible lessons, storytelling, and devotional songs, encouraging the young participants to live faithfully and joyfully.
The rest of the day was filled with fun and creativity. Children enjoyed a lively mix of games, a magical magic show, art activities, joyful songs, and their general classes, creating lasting memories and laughter. Volunteers ensured that the little ones were well cared for, serving delicious snacks and lunch that added to the sense of fellowship.
Adding to the day’s blessings, the organisers reported receiving a generous donation in the collection box, for which the church extended heartfelt thanks.
As the first day concluded at 2:00 PM, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude and anticipation. Convenors, teachers, and parents praised the efforts of the organisers, noting how beautifully the program blended faith, fun, and community spirit.
Looking ahead, organisers promised even more excitement with puppet shows, new art projects, and more joyful songs lined up in the coming days. Day 2 will begin at 9:00 AM, with children invited to dress in green.
The first day of OVBS 2025 was not just an event, but a celebration of faith, joy, and togetherness, setting the perfect tone for the days to follow.
