St George Indian Orthodox Church MGOCSM Volunteers with Brisbane Basket Brigade for Christmas Hampers

St George Indian Orthodox Church MGOCSM Volunteers with Brisbane Basket Brigade for Christmas Hampers

On 14th December 2024, members of the MGOCSM (Malankara Greek Orthodox Christian Student Movement) from St George Indian Orthodox Church in Brisbane took part in a heartwarming community service event. In association with the Brisbane Basket Brigade, they volunteered at John Paul College in Daisy Hill to help pack Christmas gift hampers for families in need of support.

This volunteer opportunity was a meaningful way to give back to the community and "pay it forward" during the season of Nativity Lent. The Christmas hampers, filled with food and gifts, will be distributed to those who may be facing challenges during the holiday season, including children, the elderly, and individuals who are homeless or hungry.

The Basket Brigade is a renowned non-profit organisation with a mission to provide food and gifts to those in need during the Christmas period. To date, they have supported over 2 million people across 400 cities in 74 countries, thanks to the dedicated efforts of thousands of volunteers worldwide.

The MGOCSM members from St George Church were proud to be part of this charitable initiative, bringing warmth and hope to those who need it most. This collaboration exemplified the spirit of community service, kindness, and generosity, especially during the festive season.

By participating in this noble cause, the volunteers not only provided tangible assistance to those in need but also embodied the true spirit of Christmas—helping others and sharing the joy of the season.
