¹Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

²“This is the statute of the law which Yahweh has commanded. Tell the children of Israel to bring you a red heifer without spot, in which is no defect, and which was never yoked.

³You shall give her to Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her outside of the camp, and one shall kill her before his face.

⁴Eleazar the priest shall take some of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle her blood toward the front of the Tent of Meeting seven times.

⁵One shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her meat, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn.

⁶The priest shall take cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the middle of the burning of the heifer.

⁷Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the evening.

⁸He who burns her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.

⁹“A man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up outside of the camp in a clean place; and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for use in water for cleansing impurity. It is a sin offering.

¹⁰He who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. It shall be to the children of Israel, and to the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them, for a statute forever.

¹¹“He who touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

¹യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:

²യഹോവ കല്പിച്ച ന്യായപ്രമാണമെന്തെന്നാൽ: കളങ്കവും ഊനവുമില്ലാത്തതും നുകം വെക്കാത്തതുമായ ഒരു ചുവന്ന പശുക്കിടാവിനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു പറക.

⁵അതിന്റെ ശേഷം പശുക്കിടാവിനെ അവൻ കാൺകെ ചുട്ടു ഭസ്മീകരിക്കേണം; അതിന്റെ തോലും മാംസവും രക്തവും ചാണകവും കൂടെ ചുടേണം.

⁶പിന്നെ പുരോഹിതൻ ദേവദാരു, ഈസോപ്പു, ചുവപ്പുനൂൽ എന്നിവ എടുത്തു പശുക്കിടാവിനെ ചുടുന്ന തീയുടെ നടുവിൽ ഇടേണം.

⁷അനന്തരം പുരോഹിതൻ വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി ദേഹം വെള്ളത്തിൽ കഴുകിയശേഷം പാളയത്തിലേക്കു വരികയും സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കയും വേണം.

⁸അതിനെ ചുട്ടവനും വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി ദേഹം വെള്ളത്തിൽ കഴുകുകയും സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കയും വേണം.

⁹പിന്നെ ശുദ്ധിയുള്ള ഒരുത്തൻ പശുക്കിടാവിന്റെ ഭസ്മം വാരി പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു വെടിപ്പുള്ള ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തു വെക്കേണം; അതു യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ സഭെക്കുവേണ്ടി ശുദ്ധീകരണജലത്തിന്നായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കേണം; അതു ഒരു പാപയാഗം.

³⁰But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.

¹Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, “Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until today.”

²The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

³Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?”

⁴Those who stood by said, “Do you malign God’s high priest?”

⁵Paul said, “I didn’t know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’ ”

⁶But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”

⁷When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided.

⁸For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.

⁹A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying, “We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”

¹⁰When a great argument arose, the commanding officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them and bring him into the barracks.

¹¹The following night, the Lord stood by him and said, “Cheer up, Paul, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must testify also at Rome.”

¹²When it was day, some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.

¹³There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy.

¹⁴They came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, “We have bound ourselves under a great curse to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.

¹⁵Now therefore, you with the council inform the commanding officer that he should bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you were going to judge his case more exactly. We are ready to kill him before he comes near.”

¹⁶But Paul’s sister’s son heard they were lying in wait, and he came and entered into the barracks and told Paul.

³⁰പിറ്റെന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാർ പൗലൊസിന്മേൽ ചുമത്തുന്ന കുറ്റത്തിന്റെ സൂക്ഷമം അറിവാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു അവൻ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപ സംഘം ഒക്കെയും കൂടി വരുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു അവനെ കെട്ടഴിച്ചു താഴെ കൊണടുചെന്നു അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നിറുത്തി.

¹പൗലൊസ് ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കി: സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാൻ ഇന്നേ ദിവസത്തോളവും കേവലം നല്ല മനസ്സാക്ഷിയോടും കൂടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²അപ്പോൾ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ അനന്യാസ് അരികെ നിലക്കുന്നവരോടു അവന്റെ വായിക്കു അടിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

³പൗലൊസ് അവനോടു: ദൈവം നിന്നെ അടിക്കും വെള്ള തേച്ച ചുവരേ; നീ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം എന്നെ വിസ്തരിപ്പാൻ ഇരിക്കയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി എന്നെ അടിപ്പാൻ കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴അരികെ നിലക്കുന്നവർ: നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനെ ശകാരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

⁵അതിന്നു പെലൊസ്: സഹോദരന്മാരേ, മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; “നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അധിപതിയെ ദുഷിക്കരുതു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶എന്നാൽ ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിൽ ഒരു പക്ഷം സദൂക്യരും ഒരുപക്ഷം പരീശന്മാരും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പൗലൊസ് അറിഞ്ഞു: സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാൻ ഒരു പരീശനും പരീശന്മാരുടെ മകനും ആകുന്നു; മരിച്ചവരുടെ പ്രത്യാശയെയും പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ വിസ്താരത്തിലായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹²നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോൾ ചില യെഹൂദന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ യോജിച്ചു പൗലൊസിനെ കൊന്നുകളയുവോളം ഒന്നും തിന്നുകയോ കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു ശപഥം ചെയ്തു.

¹³ഈ ശപഥം ചെയ്തവർ നാല്പതിൽ അധികംപേർ ആയിരുന്നു.

¹⁴അവർ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: ഞങ്ങൾ പൗലൊസിനെ കൊന്നുകളയുവോളം ഒന്നും ആസ്വദിക്കയില്ല എന്നൊരു കഠിനശപഥം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁵ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ കാര്യം അധികം സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ പരിശോധിക്കേണം എന്നുള്ള ഭാവത്തിൽ അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ താഴെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ ന്യായാധിപസംഘവുമായി സഹസ്രാധിപനോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പിൻ ; എന്നാൽ അവൻ സമീപിക്കും മുമ്പെ ഞങ്ങൾ അവനെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാൻ ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁸For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

¹⁹For it is written,

²⁰Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

²¹For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

²²For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,

²³but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,

²⁴but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;

²⁵because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

²⁶For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;

²⁷but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong.

²⁸God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that don’t exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist,

²⁹that no flesh should boast before God.

³⁰Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,

³¹that, as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”

¹⁸ക്രൂശിന്റെ വചനം നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നവർക്കും ഭോഷത്വവും രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന നമുക്കോ ദൈവശക്തിയും ആകുന്നു.

¹⁹“ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ ജ്ഞാനം ഞാൻ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ബുദ്ധിമാന്മാരുടെ ബുദ്ധി ദുർബ്ബലമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

²⁰ജ്ഞാനി എവിടെ? ശാസ്ത്രി എവിടെ? ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ താർക്കികൻ എവിടെ? ലോകത്തിന്റെ ജ്ഞാനം ദൈവം ഭോഷത്വമാക്കിയില്ലയോ?

²¹ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്തിൽ ലോകം ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ ദൈവത്തെ അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരെ പ്രസംഗത്തിന്റെ ഭോഷത്വത്താൽ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദം തോന്നി.

²²യെഹൂദന്മാർ അടയാളം ചോദിക്കയും യവനന്മാർ ജ്ഞാനം അന്വേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു;

²³ഞങ്ങളോ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നു; യെഹൂദന്മാർക്കും ഇടർച്ചയും

²⁴ജാതികൾക്കു ഭോഷത്വവുമെങ്കിലും യെഹൂദന്മാരാകട്ടെ യവനന്മാരാകട്ടെ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഏവർക്കും ദൈവശക്തിയും ദൈവജ്ഞാനവുമായ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ തന്നേ.

²⁵ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം മനുഷ്യരെക്കാൾ ജ്ഞാനമേറിയതും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ബലഹീനത മനുഷ്യരെക്കാൾ ബലമേറിയതും ആകുന്നു.

²⁶സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ വിളിയെ നോക്കുവിൻ : ലോകാഭിപ്രായപ്രകാരം ജ്ഞാനികൾ ഏറെയില്ല, ബലവാന്മാർ ഏറെയില്ല, കുലീനന്മാരും ഏറെയില്ല.

²⁷ജ്ഞാനികളെ ലജ്ജിപ്പിപ്പാൻ ദൈവം ലോകത്തിൽ ഭോഷത്വമായതു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ബലമുള്ളതിനെ ലജ്ജിപ്പിപ്പാൻ ദൈവം ലോകത്തിൽ ബലഹീനമായതു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

²⁸ഉള്ളതിനെ ഇല്ലായ്മയാക്കുവാൻ ദൈവം ലോകത്തിൽ കുലഹീനവും നികൃഷ്ടവുമായതും ഏതുമില്ലാത്തതും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു;

²⁹ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ ഒരു ജഡവും പ്രശംസിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

³⁰നിങ്ങളോ അവനാൽ ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു. അവൻ നമുക്കു ദൈവത്തിങ്കൽ നിന്നു ജ്ഞാനവും നീതിയും ശുദ്ധീകരണവും വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുമായിത്തീർന്നു.

³¹“പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നവൻ കർത്താവിൽ പ്രശംസിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ആകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

¹¹But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,

¹²nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption.

¹³For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh,

¹⁴how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

¹¹ക്രിസ്തുവോ വരുവാനുള്ള നന്മകളുടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി വന്നിട്ടു: കൈപ്പണിയല്ലാത്തതായി എന്നുവെച്ചാൽ ഈ സൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടാത്തതായി വലിപ്പവും തികവുമേറിയ

¹²ഒരു കൂടാരത്തിൽകൂടി ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരുടെയും പശുക്കിടാക്കളുടെയും രക്തത്താലല്ല, സ്വന്ത രക്തത്താൽ തന്നേ ഒരിക്കലായിട്ടു വിശുദ്ധ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചു എന്നേക്കുമുള്ളോരു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പു സാധിപ്പിച്ചു.

¹³ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരുടെയും കാളകളുടെയും രക്തവും മലിനപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ മേൽ തളിക്കുന്ന പശുഭസ്മവും

¹⁴ജഡികശുദ്ധി വരുത്തുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിത്യാത്മാവിനാൽ ദൈവത്തിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കനായി അർപ്പിച്ച ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ രക്തം ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സാക്ഷിയെ നിർജ്ജീവപ്രവൃത്തികളെ പോക്കി എത്ര അധികം ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കും?

³Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

⁴saying, “I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.”

⁵He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary and departed. Then he went away and hanged himself.

⁶The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.”

⁷They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them to bury strangers in.

⁸Therefore that field has been called “The Field of Blood” to this day.

⁹Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,

¹⁰and they gave them for the potter’s field,

³അവനെ ശിക്ഷെക്കു വിധിച്ചു എന്നു അവനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത യൂദാ കണ്ടു അനുതപിച്ചു, ആ മുപ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു:

⁴ഞാൻ കുററമില്ലാത്ത രക്തത്തെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്തതിനാൽ പാപം ചെയ്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു എന്തു? നീ തന്നേ നോക്കിക്കൊൾക എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

⁵അവൻ ആ വെള്ളിക്കാശ് മന്ദിരത്തിൽ എറിഞ്ഞു, ചെന്നു കെട്ടിഞാന്നു ചത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

⁶മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാർ ആ വെള്ളിക്കാശ് എടുത്തു: ഇതു രക്തവിലയാകയാൽ ശ്രീഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽ ഇടുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കൂടി ആലോചിച്ചു,

⁷പരദേശികളെ കുഴിച്ചിടുവാൻ അതുകൊണ്ടു കുശവന്റെ നിലം വാങ്ങി.

⁸ആകയാൽ ആ നിലത്തിന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ രക്തനിലം എന്നു പേർ പറയുന്നു.

⁹“യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ വിലമതിച്ചവന്റെ വിലയായ മുപ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശു അവർ എടുത്തു,

¹⁰കർത്താവു എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തുപോലെ കുശവന്റെ നിലത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി കൊടുത്തു.” എന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിന്നു അന്നു നിവൃത്തിവന്നു..

¹Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders, scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

²Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”

³The chief priests accused him of many things.

⁴Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”

⁵But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

⁶Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whomever they asked of him.

⁷There was one called Barabbas, bound with his fellow insurgents, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.

⁸The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.

⁹Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

¹⁰For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people were gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.”

⁶⁸and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁹From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?”

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”

¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

³Satan entered into Judas, who was also called Iscariot, who was counted with the twelve.

⁴He went away and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁶He consented and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁷The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.

⁸Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹¹Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” ’

¹²He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹³They went, found things as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁵He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,

¹⁶for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves,

¹⁸for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until God’s Kingdom comes.”

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²¹But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²²The Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²³They began to question among themselves which of them it was who would do this thing.

²⁴A dispute also arose among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁶But not so with you. Rather, the one who is greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁷For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

²⁸“But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁹I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

³⁰that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

¹പെസഹ എന്ന പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുനാൾ അടുത്തു.

²³ഇതു ചെയ്‍വാൻ പോകുന്നവൻ തങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ആർ ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു അവർ തമ്മിൽ തമ്മിൽ ചോദിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി.

²⁴തങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ആരെ ആകുന്നു വലിയവനായി എണ്ണേണ്ടതു എന്നതിനെച്ചൊല്ലി ഒരു തർക്കവും അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഉണ്ടായി.

³¹Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

³²But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”

³³But Peter answered him, “Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble.”

³⁴Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

³⁵Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you.” All of the disciples also said likewise.

³⁶Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go there and pray.”

³⁷He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.

³⁸Then Jesus said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me.”

³⁹He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

⁴⁰He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour?

⁴¹Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

⁴²Again, a second time he went away and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”

⁴³He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

⁴⁴He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

⁴⁵Then he came to his disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

⁴⁶Arise, let’s be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”

³⁶അനന്തരം യേശു അവരുമായി ഗെത്ത് ശെമന എന്ന തോട്ടത്തിൽ വന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടു: ഞാൻ അവിടെ പോയി പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു വരുവോളം ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു,

³⁷പത്രൊസിനെയും സെബെദി പുത്രന്മാർ ഇരുവരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു ദുഃഖിച്ചും വ്യാകുലപ്പെട്ടും തുടങ്ങി:

³⁸എന്റെ ഉള്ളം മരണവേദനപോലെ അതിദുഃഖിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണർന്നിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁴He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

³⁵He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.

³⁶He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

³⁷He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?

³⁸Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

³⁹Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.

⁴⁰Again he returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they didn’t know what to answer him.

⁴¹He came the third time and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

⁴²Arise! Let’s get going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”

⁴³Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came—and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.

⁴⁴Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely.”

⁴⁵When he had come, immediately he came to him and said, “Rabbi! Rabbi!” and kissed him.

⁴⁶They laid their hands on him and seized him.

⁴⁷But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

⁴⁸Jesus answered them, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?

⁴⁹I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”

⁵⁰They all left him, and fled.

⁵¹A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself over his naked body. The young men grabbed him,

⁵²but he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.

³⁹അവൻ പിന്നെയും പോയി ആ വചനം തന്നെ ചൊല്ലി പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³²but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, bag, and sandals, did you lack anything?”

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁷For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ For that which concerns me is being fulfilled.”

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.”

³⁹He came out and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴⁴Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared. He who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear and healed him.

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵³When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵⁴They seized him and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them!”

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶¹The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

¹²When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

¹³Then Pilate said to him, “Don’t you hear how many things they testify against you?”

¹⁴He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.

¹⁵Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner whom they desired.

¹⁶They had then a notable prisoner called Barabbas.

¹⁷When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”

¹⁸For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.

¹⁹While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of him.”

²⁰Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

²¹But the governor answered them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?”

²²Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do to Jesus who is called Christ?”

²³But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?”

²⁴So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”

²⁵All the people answered, “May his blood be on us and on our children!”

²⁶Then he released Barabbas to them, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.

²⁷Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.

²⁸They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.

²⁹They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

³⁰They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.

³¹When they had mocked him, they took the robe off him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

¹⁵Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

¹⁶The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.

¹⁷They clothed him with purple; and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

¹⁸They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

²⁸But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

²⁹For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.’

³⁰Then they will begin to tell the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ and tell the hills, ‘Cover us.’

³¹For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?”

³²There were also others, two criminals, led with him to be put to death.

³³When they came to the place that is called “The Skull”, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

³⁴Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”

²⁴Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says,

³⁷They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

³⁹One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”

⁴⁰But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

⁴¹And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

⁴²He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

⁴³Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

⁴⁴It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

⁴⁵The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

²⁵But standing by Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

²⁶Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”

²⁷Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.

⁴⁵Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

⁴⁶About the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

⁴⁷Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”

⁴⁸Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave him a drink.

⁴⁹The rest said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”

⁵⁰Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.

⁵¹Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.

⁵²The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

⁵³and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many.

⁵⁴Now the centurion and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were done, were terrified, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

⁵⁵Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him.

⁵⁶Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

⁴⁹All his acquaintances and the women who followed with him from Galilee stood at a distance, watching these things.

⁴⁷ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതു ശതാധിപൻ കണ്ടിട്ടു: ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ വാസ്തവമായി നീതിമാൻ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.

⁴⁸കാണ്മാൻ കൂടി വന്ന പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും സംഭവിച്ചതു കണ്ടിട്ടു മാറത്തടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

⁴⁹അവന്റെ പരിചയക്കാർ എല്ലാവരും ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചസ്ത്രീകളും ഇതു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു.

²³Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

²⁴Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says,

²⁵But standing by Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

²⁶Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”

²⁷Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.

²⁸After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty!”

²⁹Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.

³⁰When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

²⁴ഇതു കീറരുതു; ആർക്കും വരും എന്നു ചീട്ടിടുക എന്നു അവർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവർ പകുത്തെടുത്തു എന്റെ അങ്കിക്കായി ചീട്ടിട്ടു എന്നുള്ളതിരുവെഴുത്തിന്നു ഇതിനാൽ നിവൃത്തി വന്നു. പടയാളികൾ ഇങ്ങനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.

²⁵യേശുവിന്റെ ക്രൂശിന്നരികെ അവന്റെ അമ്മയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയും ക്ളെയോപ്പാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മറിയയും മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും നിന്നിരുന്നു.

²⁶യേശു തന്റെ അമ്മയും താൻ സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു: സ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകൻ എന്നു അമ്മയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁹അവിടെ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറഞ്ഞോരു പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവർ ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങ് പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു നിറെച്ചു ഈസോപ്പുതണ്ടിന്മേൽ ആക്കി അവന്റെ വായോടു അടുപ്പിച്ചു.

³⁰യേശു പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചശേഷം: നിവൃത്തിയായി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്ചു ആത്മാവിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

¹After these things, God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!”

²He said, “Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

³Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey; and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

⁴On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.

⁵Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there. We will worship, and come back to you.”

⁶Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

⁷Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?”

⁸Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

⁹They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

¹⁰Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.

¹¹Yahweh’s angel called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”

¹²He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

¹³Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

¹⁴Abraham called the name of that place “Yahweh Will Provide”. As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”

⁴മൂന്നാം ദിവസം അബ്രാഹാം നോക്കി ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു ആ സ്ഥലം കണ്ടു.

⁵അബ്രാഹാം ബാല്യക്കാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ കഴുതയുമായി ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിൻ ; ഞാനും ബാലനും അവിടത്തോളം ചെന്നു ആരാധന കഴിച്ചു മടങ്ങിവരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶അബ്രാഹാം ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നുള്ള വിറകു എടുത്തു തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ചുമലിൽ വെച്ചു; തീയും കത്തിയും താൻ എടുത്തു; ഇരുവരും ഒന്നിച്ചു നടന്നു.

¹⁴അബ്രാഹാം ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു യഹോവ-യിരേ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. യഹോവയുടെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ അവൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകും എന്നു ഇന്നുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

⁸Then Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

⁹Moses said to Joshua, “Choose men for us, and go out to fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with God’s rod in my hand.”

¹⁰So Joshua did as Moses had told him, and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

¹¹When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed. When he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

¹²But Moses’ hands were heavy; so they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until sunset.

¹³Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

¹⁴Yahweh said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky.”

⁸രെഫീദീമിൽവെച്ചു അമാലേൿ വന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു.

⁹അപ്പോൾ മോശെ യോശുവയോടു: നീ ആളുകളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അമാലേക്കിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്ക; ഞാൻ നാളെ കുന്നിൻ മുകളിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടി കയ്യിൽ പിടിച്ചും കൊണ്ടു നിലക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹³Behold, my servant will deal wisely.

¹⁴Just as many were astonished at you—

¹⁵so he will cleanse many nations.

¹Who has believed our message?

²For he grew up before him as a tender plant,

³He was despised

⁴Surely he has borne our sickness

⁵But he was pierced for our transgressions.

⁶All we like sheep have gone astray.

⁷He was oppressed,

⁸He was taken away by oppression and judgment.

¹ഞങ്ങൾ കേൾപ്പിച്ചതു ആർ‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു? യഹോവയുടെ ഭുജം ആർ‍കൂ വെളിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു?

²അവൻ ഇളയ തൈപോലെയും വരണ്ട നിലത്തുനിന്നു വേർ‍ മുളെക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും അവന്റെ മുൻ പാകെ വളരും; അവന്നു രൂപഗുണം ഇല്ല, കോമളത്വം ഇല്ല; കണ്ടാൽ ആഗ്രഹിക്കത്തക്ക സൌൻ ദർയവുമില്ല

³അവൻ മനുഷ്യരാൽ നിൻ ദിക്കപ്പെട്ടും ത്യജിക്കപ്പെട്ടും വ്യസനപാത്രമായും രോഗം ശീലിച്ചവനായും ഇരുന്നു; അവനെ കാണുന്നവർ‍ മുഖം മറെച്ചുകളയത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവൻ നിൻ ദിതനായിരുന്നു; നാം അവനെ ആദരിച്ചതുമില്ല

⁴സാക്ഷാൽ നമ്മുടെ രോഗങ്ങളെ അവൻ വഹിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ ദേവനകളെ അവൻ ചുമന്നു; നാമോ, ദൈവം അവനെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചും അടിച്ചും ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു

⁷തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തി വായെ തുറക്കാതെയിരുന്നിട്ടും അവൻ പീഡിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; കൊല്ലുവാൻ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്ന കുഞ്ഞാടിനെപ്പോലെയും രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മുൻ പാകെ മിണ്ടാതെയിരിക്കുന്ന ആടിനെപ്പോലെയും അവൻ വായെ തുറക്കാതിരുന്നു

⁸അവൻ പീഡനത്താലും ശിക്ഷാവിധിയാലും എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു അവൻ ഛേദിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എന്നും എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അതിക്രമം നിമിത്തം അവന്നു ദണ്ഡനം വന്നു എന്നും അവന്റെ തലമുറയിൽ ആർ‍ വിചാരിച്ചു

¹⁹For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.

²⁰For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.

²¹For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,

²²who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”

²³When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.

²⁴He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.

²⁵For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

¹⁹ഒരുത്തൻ ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള മനോബോധം നിമിത്തം അന്യായമായി കഷ്ടവും ദുഃഖവും സഹിച്ചാൽ അതു പ്രസാദം ആകുന്നു.

²⁰നിങ്ങൾ കുറ്റം ചെയ്തിട്ടു അടികൊള്ളുന്നതു സഹിച്ചാൽ എന്തു യശസ്സുള്ളു? അല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു കഷ്ടം സഹിച്ചാൽ അതു ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദം.

²³തന്നെ ശകാരിച്ചിട്ടു പകരം ശകാരിക്കാതെയും കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടു ഭീഷണം പറയാതെയും ന്യായമായി വിധിക്കുന്നവങ്കൽ കാർയ്യം ഭരമേല്പിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തതു.

²⁴നാം പാപം സംബന്ധിച്ചു മരിച്ചു നീതിക്കു ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ തന്റെ ശരീരത്തിൽ നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു ക്രൂശിന്മേൽ കയറി; അവന്റെ അടിപ്പിണരാൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സൗഖ്യം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

²⁵നിങ്ങൾ തെറ്റി ഉഴലുന്ന ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോഴോ നിങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാക്കളുടെ ഇടയനും അദ്ധ്യക്ഷനുമായവങ്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁵⁵The women who had come with him out of Galilee followed after, and saw the tomb and how his body was laid.

⁵⁶They returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

⁵⁵മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗവും പരിമളതൈലവും ഒരുക്കി; കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു ശബ്ബത്തിൽ സ്വസ്ഥമായിരന്നു.

³¹Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.

³²Therefore the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with him;

³³but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.

³⁴However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

³⁵He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.

³⁶For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.”

³⁷Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”

³⁸After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.

³⁹Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.

⁴⁰So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

⁴¹Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.

⁴²Then, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand), they laid Jesus there.

³¹അന്നു ഒരുക്കനാളും ആ ശബ്ബത്ത് നാൾ വലിയതും ആകകൊണ്ടു ശരീരങ്ങൾ ശബ്ബത്തിൽ ക്രൂശിന്മേൽ ഇരിക്കരുതു എന്നുവെച്ചു അവരുടെ കാൽ ഒടിച്ചു എടുപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാർ പീലാത്തൊസിനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

³²ആകയാൽ പടയാളികൾ വന്നു ഒന്നാമത്തവന്റെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട മറ്റെവന്റെയും കാൽ ഒടിച്ചു. അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു കാൺകയാൽ അവന്റെ കാൽ ഒടിച്ചില്ല. എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു കുത്തി; ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

³⁵ഇതു കണ്ടവൻ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം ആകുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു താൻ സത്യം പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ അറിയുന്നു.

³⁶“അവന്റെ ഒരു അസ്ഥിയും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.

³⁷“അവർ കുത്തിയവങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കും” എന്നു മറ്റൊരു തിരുവെഴുത്തും പറയുന്നു.

³⁸അനന്തരം, യെഹൂദന്മാരെ പേടിച്ചിട്ടു രഹസ്യത്തിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമത്യയിലെ യോസേഫ് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാൻ പീലാത്തൊസിനോടു അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അനുവദിക്കയാൽ അവൻ വന്നു അവന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു.

³⁹ആദ്യം രാത്രിയിൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന നിക്കൊദേമൊസും ഏകദേശം നൂറുറാത്തൽ മൂറും അകിലും കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു കൂട്ടു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

⁴⁰അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു യെഹൂദന്മാർ ശവം അടക്കുന്ന മര്യാദപ്രകാരം അതിനെ സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു കെട്ടി.

⁴¹അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നേ ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തിൽ മുമ്പെ ആരെയും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പുതിയോരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

⁴²ആ കല്ലറ സമീപം ആകകൊണ്ടു അവർ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ നിമിത്തം യേശുവിനെ അവിടെ വച്ചു.
