²⁸Peter began to tell him, “Behold, we have left all and have followed you.”

²⁹Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News,

³⁰but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time: houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.

³¹But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

²⁸പത്രൊസ് അവനോടു: ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങൾ സകലവും വിട്ടു നിന്നെ അനുഗമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി.

¹⁵When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”

¹⁶But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.

¹⁷It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”

¹⁸Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord.

¹⁹See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.

²⁰See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”

²¹He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

²²Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

²³The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.

¹⁷അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ശേഷം അവൻ : ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി ഔടിപ്പോക: പുറകോട്ടു നോക്കരുതു; ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെങ്ങും നിൽക്കയുമരുതു; നിനക്കു നാശം ഭവിക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ പർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക എന്നുപറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁸ലോത്ത് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: അങ്ങനെയല്ല കർത്താവേ;

¹⁹നിനക്കു അടിയനോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയല്ലോ; എന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു വലിയ കൃപ നീ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഔടി എത്തുവാൻ എനിക്കു കഴികയില്ല; പക്ഷേ എനിക്കു ദോഷം തട്ടി മരണം ഭവിക്കും.

²⁰ഇതാ, ഈ പട്ടണം സമീപമാകുന്നു; അവിടേക്കു എനിക്കു ഔടാം; അതു ചെറിയതുമാകുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പേകട്ടെ. അതു ചെറിയതല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ എനിക്കു ജീവരക്ഷ ഉണ്ടാകും.

²¹അവൻ അവനോടു: ഇക്കാര്യത്തിലും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ പറഞ്ഞ പട്ടണം ഞാൻ മറിച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

²²ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക; നീ അവിടെ എത്തുവോളം എനിക്കു ഒന്നും ചെയ്‍വാൻ കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു കൊണ്ടു ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു സോവർ എന്നു പേരായി.

²³ലോത്ത് സോവരിൽ കടന്നപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ ഉദിച്ചിരുന്നു.

¹²Yahweh said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.”

¹³It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

¹⁴that a messenger came to Job, and said, “The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them,

¹⁵and the Sabeans attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

¹⁶While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

¹⁷While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

¹⁸While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

¹⁹and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.”

²⁰Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.

²¹He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be Yahweh’s name.”

²²In all this, Job didn’t sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.

¹⁴ഒരു ദൂതൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു: കാളകളെ പൂട്ടുകയും പെൺകഴുതകൾ അരികെ മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയും ആയിരുന്നു;

¹⁵പെട്ടെന്നു ശെബായർ വന്നു അവയെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകയും വേലക്കാരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁶അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ വേറൊരുത്തൻ വന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തീ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു വീണു കത്തി, ആടുകളും വേലക്കാരും അതിന്നു ഇരയായ്പോയി; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁷അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ വന്നു: പെട്ടെന്നു കല്ദയർ മൂന്നു കൂട്ടമായി വന്നു ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോകയും വേലക്കാരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁸അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ വന്നു; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ തിന്നുകയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

¹⁹പെട്ടെന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു വന്നു വീട്ടിന്റെ നാലു മൂലെക്കും അടിച്ചു: അതു യൗവനക്കാരുടെമേൽ വീണു; അവർ മരിച്ചുപോയി; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാനൊരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁰അപ്പോൾ ഇയ്യോബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു വസ്ത്രം കീറി തല ചിരെച്ചു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു:

²¹നഗ്നനായി ഞാൻ എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു, നഗ്നനായി തന്നേ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും, യഹോവ തന്നു, യഹോവ എടുത്തു, യഹോവയുടെ നാമം വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²²ഇതിലൊന്നിലും ഇയ്യോബ് പാപം ചെയ്കയോ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോഷത്വം ആരോപിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.

¹In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’ ”

²Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to Yahweh,

³and said, “Remember now, Yahweh, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” Then Hezekiah wept bitterly.

⁴Then Yahweh’s word came to Isaiah, saying,

⁵“Go, and tell Hezekiah, ‘Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

⁶I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.

⁷This shall be the sign to you from Yahweh, that Yahweh will do this thing that he has spoken.

⁸Behold, I will cause the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down on the sundial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps.” ’ ” So the sun returned ten steps on the sundial on which it had gone down.

¹ആ കാലത്തു ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു മരിക്കത്തക്ക രോഗം പിടിച്ചു; ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: നിന്റെ ഗൃഹകാര്യം ക്രമത്തിലാക്കുക; നീ മരിച്ചുപോകും; സൌഖ്യമാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²അപ്പോൾ ഹിസ്കീയാവു മുഖം ചുവരിന്റെ നേരെ തിരിച്ചു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു:

³അയ്യോ, യഹോവേ, ഞാൻ വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടും കൂടെ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ നടന്നു നിനക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഔർക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ഹിസ്കീയാവു ഏറ്റവും കരഞ്ഞു.

⁴എന്നാൽ യെശയ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

⁵നീ ചെന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടതു: നിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പ്രാർത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ കണ്ണുനിർ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ആയുസ്സിനോടു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം കൂട്ടും.

⁶ഞാൻ നിന്നെയും ഈ നഗരത്തെയും അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ ഞാൻ കാത്തുരക്ഷിക്കും.

⁷യഹോവ, താൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ കാര്യം നിവർത്തിക്കും എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പക്കൽനിന്നു ഇതു നിനക്കു ഒരു അടയാളം ആകും.

⁸ആഹാസിന്റെ ഘടികാരത്തിൽ സൂര്യഗതി അനുസരിച്ചു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്ന നിഴലിനെ ഞാൻ പത്തു പടി പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയുമാറാക്കും; ഇങ്ങനെ സൂര്യൻ ഘടികാരത്തിൽ ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരുന്ന പത്തു പടി തിരിഞ്ഞു പോന്നു.

³³partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions, and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.

³⁴For you both had compassion on me in my chains and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.

³⁵Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

³⁶For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

³⁷“In a very little while,

³⁸But the righteous one will live by faith.

³⁹But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.

¹Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

²For by this, the elders obtained approval.

³By faith we understand that the universe has been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible.

⁴By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.

⁵By faith Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God.

⁶Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

⁷By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

³³ആ വക അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവർക്കും കൂട്ടാളികളായിത്തീർന്നും ഇങ്ങനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളാൽ വളരെ പോരാട്ടം കഴിച്ച പൂർവ്വകാലം ഔർത്തുകൊൾവിൻ .

³⁴തടവുകാരോടു നിങ്ങൾ സഹതാപം കാണിച്ചതല്ലാതെ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിലനിലക്കുന്ന ഉത്തമസമ്പത്തു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഉണ്ടു എന്നറിഞ്ഞു സമ്പത്തുകളുടെ അപഹാരവും സന്തോഷത്തോടെ സഹിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

³⁵അതുകൊണ്ടു മഹാ പ്രതിഫലമുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ധൈര്യം തള്ളിക്കളയരുതു.

³⁶ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു വാഗ്ദത്തം പ്രാപിപ്പാൻ സഹിഷ്ണുത നിങ്ങൾക്കു ആവശ്യം.

³⁷“ഇനി എത്രയും അല്പകാലം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു വരുവാനുള്ളവൻ വരും താമസിക്കയുമില്ല;”

³⁸എന്നാൽ “എന്റെ നീതിമാൻ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ജീവിക്കും; പിൻ മാറുന്നു എങ്കിൽ എന്റെ ഉള്ളത്തിന്നു അവനിൽ പ്രസാദമില്ല”.

³⁹നാമോ നാശത്തിലേക്കു പിന്മാറുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലല്ല, വിശ്വസിച്ചു ജീവരക്ഷ പ്രാപിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലത്രേ ആകുന്നു.

¹വിശ്വാസം എന്നതോ, ആശിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഉറപ്പും കാണാത്ത കാര്യങ്ങളുടെ നിശ്ചയവും ആകുന്നു.

²അതിനാലല്ലോ പൂർവ്വന്മാർക്കും സാക്ഷ്യം ലഭിച്ചതു.

³ഈ കാണുന്ന ലോകത്തിന്നു ദൃശ്യമായതല്ല കാരണം എന്നു വരുമാറു ലോകം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനത്താൽ നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു നാം വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അറിയുന്നു.

⁴വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ഹാബേൽ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കയീന്റേതിലും ഉത്തമമായ യാഗം കഴിച്ചു; അതിനാൽ അവന്നു നീതിമാൻ എന്ന സാക്ഷ്യം ലഭിച്ചു; ദൈവം അവന്റെ വഴിപാടിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം കല്പിച്ചു. മരിച്ചശേഷവും അവൻ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁵വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ഹനോൿ മരണം കാണാതെ എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ദൈവം അവനെ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടതിനാൽ കാണാതെയായി. അവൻ ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു അവൻ എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടതിന്നു മുമ്പെ സാക്ഷ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

⁶എന്നാൽ വിശ്വാസം കൂടാതെ ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിപ്പാൻ കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നവൻ ദൈവം ഉണ്ടു എന്നും തന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവർക്കും പ്രതിഫലം കൊടുക്കുന്നു എന്നും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതല്ലോ.

⁷വിശ്വാസത്താൽ നോഹ അതുവരെ കാണാത്തവയെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിട്ടു ഭയഭക്തി പൂണ്ടു തന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ രക്ഷക്കായിട്ടു ഒരു പെട്ടകം തീർത്തു; അതിനാൽ അവൻ ലോകത്തെ കുറ്റം വിധിച്ചു വിശ്വാസത്താലുള്ള നീതിക്കു അവകാശിയായിത്തീർന്നു.

³⁴“Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword.

³⁵For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

³⁶A man’s foes will be those of his own household.

³⁷He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me.

³⁸He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me isn’t worthy of me.

³⁹He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

⁴⁰“He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

⁴¹He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.

⁴²Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.”

³⁴ഞാൻ ഭൂമിയിൽ സമാധാനം വരുത്തുവാൻ വന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കരുതു; സമാധാനം അല്ല വാൾ അത്രേ വരുത്തുവാൻ ഞാൻ വന്നതു.

³⁵മനുഷ്യനെ തന്റെ അപ്പനോടും മകളെ അമ്മയോടും മരുമകളെ അമ്മാവിയമ്മയോടും ഭേദിപ്പിപ്പാനത്രേ ഞാൻ വന്നതു.

³⁶മനുഷ്യന്റെ വീട്ടുകാർ തന്നേ അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾ ആകും.

³⁷എന്നെക്കാൾ അധികം അപ്പനേയോ അമ്മയേയോ പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവൻ എനിക്കു യോഗ്യനല്ല; എന്നെക്കാൾ അധികം മകനെയോ മകളെയോ പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവൻ എനിക്കു യോഗ്യനല്ല.

³⁸തന്റെ ക്രൂശു എടുത്തു എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കാത്തവനും എനിക്കു യോഗ്യനല്ല.
