³⁰They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see and believe you? What work do you do?

³¹Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’ ”

³²Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.

³³For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”

³⁴They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”

³⁵Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

³⁶But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.

³⁷All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.

³⁸For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

³⁹This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.

⁴⁰This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

⁴¹The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”

⁴²They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?”

⁴³Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves.

⁴⁴No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up in the last day.

⁴⁵It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father and has learned, comes to me.

⁴⁶Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.

³⁰അവർ അവനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു നിന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ എന്തു അടയാളം ചെയ്യുന്നു? എന്തു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു?

³¹നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മന്നാ തിന്നു; അവർക്കും തിന്നുവാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു അപ്പം കൊടുത്തു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³²യേശു അവരോടു: ആമേൻ , ആമേൻ , ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള അപ്പം മോശെയല്ല നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നതു, എന്റെ പിതാവത്രേ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സാക്ഷാൽ അപ്പം നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരുന്നതു.

³³ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അപ്പമോ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു ലോകത്തിന്നു ജീവനെ കൊടുക്കുന്നതു ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁴അവർ അവനോടു: കർത്താവേ, ഈ അപ്പം എപ്പോഴും ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁵യേശു അവരോടുപറഞ്ഞതു: ഞാൻ ജീവന്റെ അപ്പം ആകുന്നു; എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നവന്നു വിശക്കയില്ല; എന്നിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു ഒരു നാളും ദാഹിക്കയുമില്ല.

³⁶എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കണ്ടിട്ടും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

³⁷പിതാവു എനിക്കു തരുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരും; എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നവനെ ഞാൻ ഒരുനാളും തള്ളിക്കളകയില്ല.

³⁸ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടമല്ല, എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടമത്രേ ചെയ്‍വാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു.

³⁹അവൻ എനിക്കു തന്നതിൽ ഒന്നും ഞാൻ കളയാതെ എല്ലാം ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിക്കേണം എന്നാകുന്നു എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം.

⁴⁰പുത്രനെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവന്നും നിത്യജീവൻ ഉണ്ടാകേണമെന്നാകുന്നു എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം; ഞാൻ അവനെ ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിക്കും.

⁴¹ഞാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന അപ്പം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതിനാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാർ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു പിറുപിറുത്തു:

⁴²ഇവൻ യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശു അല്ലയോ? അവന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും നാം അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; പിന്നെ ഞാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു എന്നു അവൻ പറയുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴³യേശു അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽ പിറുപിറുക്കേണ്ടാ;

⁴⁴എന്നെ അയച്ച പിതാവു ആകർഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാതെ ആർക്കും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുവാൻ കഴികയില്ല; ഞാൻ ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ അവനെ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിക്കും.

⁴⁵എല്ലാവരും ദൈവത്താൽ ഉപദേശിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ ആകും എന്നു പ്രവാചകപുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. പിതാവിനോടു കേട്ടുപഠിച്ചവൻ എല്ലാം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരും.

⁴⁶പിതാവിനെ ആരെങ്കിലും കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നു വന്നവൻ മാത്രമേ പിതാവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള.

³⁸ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടമല്ല, എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടമത്രേ ചെയ്‍വാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു.

³⁹അവൻ എനിക്കു തന്നതിൽ ഒന്നും ഞാൻ കളയാതെ എല്ലാം ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിക്കേണം എന്നാകുന്നു എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം.

⁴⁰പുത്രനെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവന്നും നിത്യജീവൻ ഉണ്ടാകേണമെന്നാകുന്നു എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം; ഞാൻ അവനെ ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിക്കും.

⁴¹ഞാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന അപ്പം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതിനാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാർ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു പിറുപിറുത്തു:

⁴⁵എല്ലാവരും ദൈവത്താൽ ഉപദേശിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ ആകും എന്നു പ്രവാചകപുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. പിതാവിനോടു കേട്ടുപഠിച്ചവൻ എല്ലാം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരും.

⁴⁶പിതാവിനെ ആരെങ്കിലും കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നു വന്നവൻ മാത്രമേ പിതാവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള.

¹Abram went up out of Egypt—he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him—into the South.

²Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

³He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

⁴to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name.

⁵Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.

⁶The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together.

⁷There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.

⁸Abram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.

⁹Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”

¹⁰Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

¹¹So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another.

¹ഇങ്ങനെ അബ്രാമും ഭാര്യയും അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ലോത്തും മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു വന്നു.

²കന്നുകാലി, വെള്ളി, പൊന്നു ഈ വകയിൽ അബ്രാം ബഹുസമ്പന്നനായിരുന്നു.

³അവൻതൻറെ യാത്രയിൽ തെക്കുനിന്നു ബേഥേൽവരെയും ബേഥേലിന്നും ഹായിക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ തനിക്കു ആദിയിൽ കൂടാരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതും താൻആദിയിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ യാഗപീഠമിരുന്നതുമായ സ്ഥലംവരെയും ചെന്നു.

⁴അവിടെ അബ്രാം യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ആരാധിച്ചു.

⁵അബ്രാമിനോടുകൂടെവന്ന ലോത്തിന്നും ആടുമാടുകളും കൂടാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

⁶അവർ ഒന്നിച്ചുപാർപ്പാൻതക്കവണ്ണം ദേശത്തിന്നു അവരെ വഹിച്ചു കൂടാഞ്ഞു; സമ്പത്തു വളരെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർക്കു ഒന്നിച്ചുപാർപ്പാൻകഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

⁷അബ്രാമിൻറെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെ ഇടയന്മാർക്കും ലോത്തിൻറെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെ ഇടയന്മാർക്കും തമ്മിൽ പിണക്കമുണ്ടായി; കനാന്യരും പെരിസ്യരും അന്നു ദേശത്തു പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

⁸അതു കൊണ്ടു അബ്രാം ലോത്തിനോടു: എനിക്കും നിനക്കും എൻറെ ഇടയന്മാർക്കും നിൻറെ ഇടയന്മാർക്കും തമ്മിൽ പിണക്കം ഉണ്ടാകരുതേ; നാം സഹോദരന്മാരല്ലോ.

⁹ദേശമെല്ലാം നിൻറെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇല്ലയോ? എന്നെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞാലും. നീ ഇടത്തോട്ടെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻവലത്തോട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം; നീ വലത്തോട്ടെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻഇടത്തോട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁰അപ്പോൾ ലോത്ത് നോക്കി, യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെയുള്ള പ്രദേശം ഒക്കെയും നീരോട്ടമുള്ളതെന്നു കണ്ടു; യഹോവ സൊദോമിനെയും ഗൊമോരയെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചതിന്നു മുമ്പെ അതു യഹോവയുടെ തോട്ടംപോലെയും സോവർവരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശംപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

¹¹ലോത്ത് യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെയുള്ള പ്രദേശം ഒക്കെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ലോത്ത് കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്രയായി; അവർ തമ്മിൽ പിരിഞ്ഞു.

²Hear, heavens,

³The ox knows his owner,

⁴Ah sinful nation,

⁵Why should you be beaten more,

⁶From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it,

⁷Your country is desolate.

⁸The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard,

⁹Unless Yahweh of Armies had left to us a very small remnant,

²ആകാശമേ, കേൾക്ക; ഭൂമിയേ, ചെവിതരിക; യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ മക്കളെ പോറ്റി വളർത്തി; അവരോ എന്നോടു മത്സരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

³കാള തന്റെ ഉടയവനെയും കഴുത തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ പുല്തൊട്ടിയെയും അറിയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേലോ അറിയുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ ജനം ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

⁴അയ്യോ പാപമുള്ള ജാതി! അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്ന ജനം! ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ സന്തതി! വഷളായി നടക്കുന്ന മക്കൾ! അവർ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ നിരസിച്ചു പുറകോട്ടു മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁵ഇനി നിങ്ങളെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു എന്തു? നിങ്ങൾ അധികം അധികം പിന്മാറുകേയുള്ളു; തല മുഴുവനും ദീനവും ഹൃദയം മുഴുവനും രോഗവും പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁶അടിതൊട്ടു മുടിവരെ ഒരു സുഖവും ഇല്ല; മുറിവും ചതവും പഴുത്തവ്രണവും മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളു; അവയെ ഞെക്കി കഴുകീട്ടില്ല, വെച്ചുകെട്ടീട്ടില്ല, എണ്ണ പുരട്ടി ശമിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല.

⁷നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശം ശൂന്യമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ തീക്കിരയായി; നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ അന്യജാതിക്കാർ നിങ്ങളുടെ നാടു തിന്നുകളയുന്നു; അതു അന്യജാതിക്കാർ ഉന്മൂലനാശം ചെയ്തതു പോലെ ശൂന്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁸സീയോൻ പുത്രി, മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ കുടിൽ പോലെയും വെള്ളരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ മാടംപോലെയും നിരോധിച്ച പട്ടണംപോലെയും ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁹സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ നമുക്കു അത്യല്പമായോരു ശേഷിപ്പു വെച്ചിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ നാം സൊദോംപോലെ ആകുമായിരുന്നു; ഗൊമോറെക്കു സദൃശമാകുമായിരുന്നു.

¹¹Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,

¹²having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹³Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme,

¹⁴or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.

¹⁵For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.

¹⁶Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.

¹⁷Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

¹¹പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, പ്രവാസികളും പരദേശികളുമായ നിങ്ങളെ ആത്മാവിനോടു പോരാടുന്ന ജഡമോഹങ്ങളെ വിട്ടകന്നു ജാതികൾ നിങ്ങളെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാർ എന്നു ദുഷിക്കുന്തോറും

¹³സകല മാനുഷനിയമത്തിന്നും കർത്താവിൻ നിമിത്തം കീഴടങ്ങുവിൻ .

¹⁴ശ്രേഷ്ഠാധികാരി എന്നുവെച്ചു രാജാവിന്നും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ ദണ്ഡനത്തിന്നും സൽപ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ മാനത്തിന്നുമായി അവനാൽ അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ എന്നുവെച്ചു നാടുവാഴികൾക്കും കീഴടങ്ങുവിൻ .

¹⁵നിങ്ങൾ നന്മ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഭോഷത്വം മിണ്ടാതാക്കേണം എന്നുള്ളതു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ആകുന്നു.

¹⁶സ്വതന്ത്രരായും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ദുഷ്ടതെക്കു മറയാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായും നടപ്പിൻ .

¹⁷എല്ലാവരെയും ബഹുമാനിപ്പിൻ ; സഹോദരവർഗ്ഗത്തെ സ്നേഹിപ്പിൻ ; ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുവിൻ ; രാജാവിനെ ബഹുമാനിപ്പിൻ .

¹¹But I make known to you, brothers, concerning the Good News which was preached by me, that it is not according to man.

¹²For I didn’t receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹³For you have heard of my way of living in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the assembly of God and ravaged it.

¹⁴I advanced in the Jews’ religion beyond many of my own age among my countrymen, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

¹⁵But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through his grace,

¹⁶to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I didn’t immediately confer with flesh and blood,

¹⁷nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia. Then I returned to Damascus.

¹⁸Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days.

¹⁹But of the other apostles I saw no one except James, the Lord’s brother.

²⁰Now about the things which I write to you, behold, before God, I’m not lying.

²¹Then I came to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

²²I was still unknown by face to the assemblies of Judea which were in Christ,

²³but they only heard, “He who once persecuted us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy.”

²⁴So they glorified God in me.

¹¹സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാൻ അറിയിച്ച സുവിശേഷം മാനുഷമല്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങളെ ഔർപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

¹²അതു ഞാൻ മനുഷ്യരോടു പ്രാപിച്ചിട്ടില്ല പഠിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല, യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ വെളിപ്പാടിനാൽ അത്രേ പ്രാപിച്ചതു.

¹³യെഹൂദമതത്തിലെ എന്റെ മുമ്പേത്ത നടപ്പു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. ഞാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സഭയെ അത്യന്തം ഉപദ്രവിച്ചു മുടിക്കയും

¹⁴എന്റെ പിതൃപാരമ്പര്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അത്യന്തം എരിവേറി, എന്റെ സ്വജനത്തിൽ സമപ്രായക്കാരായ പലരെക്കാളും യെഹൂദമതത്തിൽ അധികം മുതിരുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.

¹⁵എങ്കിലും എന്റെ ജനനം മുതൽ എന്നെ വേർതിരിച്ചുതന്റെ കൃപയാൽ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവം

¹⁶തന്റെ പുത്രനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം ഞാൻ ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ എന്നിൽ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുവാൻ പ്രസാദിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ മാംസരക്തങ്ങളോടു ആലോചിക്കയോ

¹⁷എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരായവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ നേരെ അറബിയിലേക്കു പോകയും ദമസ്കൊസിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോരുകയും ചെയ്തു.

¹⁸മൂവാണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കേഫാവുമായി മുഖപരിചയമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി പതിനഞ്ചുദിവസം അവനോടുകടെ പാർത്തു.

¹⁹എന്നാൽ കർത്താവിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ അല്ലാതെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരിൽ വേറൊരുത്തനെയും കണ്ടില്ല.

²⁰ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല എന്നതിന്നു ദൈവം സാക്ഷി.

²¹പിന്നെ ഞാൻ സുറിയ കിലിക്യ ദിക്കുകളിലേക്കു പോയി.

²²യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ക്രിസ്തുസഭകൾക്കോ ഞാൻ മുഖപരിചയം ഇല്ലാത്തവൻ ആയിരുന്നു;

²³മുമ്പെ നമ്മെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചവൻ താൻ മുമ്പെ മുടിച്ച വിശ്വാസത്തെ ഇപ്പോൾ പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നു എന്നു മാത്രം

²⁴അവർ കേട്ടു എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.

¹⁸Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this: After his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.

²⁰But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

²¹She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.”

²²Now all this has happened that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

²³“Behold, the virgin shall be with child,

²⁴Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself;

²⁵and didn’t know her sexually until she had given birth to her firstborn son. He named him Jesus.

¹⁸എന്നാൽ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ജനനം ഈ വണ്ണം ആയിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ അമ്മയായ മറിയ യോസേഫിന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ടശേഷം അവർ കൂടിവരുമ്മുമ്പെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാൽ ഗൎഭിണിയായി എന്നു കണ്ടു.

¹⁹അവളുടെ ഭൎത്താവായ യോസേഫ് നീതിമാനാകകൊണ്ടും അവൾക്കു ലോകാപവാദം വരുത്തുവാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടും അവളെ ഗൂഢമായി ഉപേക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.

²⁰ഇങ്ങനെ നിനെച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ കൎത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ അവന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി: ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ യോസേഫേ, നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ മറിയയെ ചേൎത്തുകൊൾവാൻ ശങ്കിക്കേണ്ടാ; അവളിൽ ഉല്പാദിതമായതു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാൽ ആകുന്നു.

²¹അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവൻ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷിപ്പാനിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു നീ അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേർ ഇടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²²"കന്യക ഗൎഭിണിയായി ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും. അവന്നു ദൈവം നമ്മോടുകൂടെ എന്നൎത്ഥമുള്ള ഇമ്മാനൂവേൽ എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കും"

²³എന്നു കൎത്താവു പ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാൻ ഇതൊക്കെയും സംഭവിച്ചു.

²⁴യോസേഫ് ഉറക്കം ഉണൎന്നു. കൎത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു, ഭാര്യയെ ചേൎത്തുകൊണ്ടു.

²⁵മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കുംവരെ അവൻ അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല. മകന്നു അവൻ യേശു എന്നു പേർ വിളിച്ചു.
