¹⁵When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

¹⁶They came with haste and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.

¹⁷When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child.

¹⁸All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.

¹⁹But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.

²⁰The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.

¹⁵ദൂതന്മാർ അവരെ വിട്ടു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ പോയശേഷം ഇടയന്മാർ: നാം ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമോളം ചെന്നു കർത്താവു നമ്മോടു അറിയിച്ച ഈ സംഭവം കാണേണം എന്നു തമ്മിൽ പറഞഞു.

¹⁶അവർ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു, മറിയയെയും യോസേഫിനെയും പശുത്തൊട്ടിയിൽ കിടക്കുന്ന ശിശുവിനെയും കണ്ടു.

¹⁷കണ്ടശേഷം ഈ പൈതലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു തങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു അറിയിച്ചു.

¹⁸കേട്ടവർ എല്ലാവരും ഇടയന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

¹⁹മറിയ ഈ വാർത്ത ഒക്കെയും ഹൃദയത്തിൽ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചു ധ്യാനിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

²⁰തങ്ങളോടു അറിയിച്ചതുപോലെ ഇടയന്മാർ കേട്ടതും കണ്ടതുമായ എല്ലാറ്റിനെയും കുറിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തിയും പുകഴ്ത്തിയും കൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

²The same was in the beginning with God.

³All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made.

⁴In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

⁵The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.

⁶There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.

⁷The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.

⁸He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.

⁹The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

¹⁰He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.

¹¹He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.

¹²But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:

¹³who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁴The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

¹⁵John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’ ”

¹⁶From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.

¹⁷For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

¹⁸No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.

¹ആദിയിൽ വചനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവം ആയിരുന്നു.

²അവൻ ആദിയിൽ ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.

³സകലവും അവൻമുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ഉളവായതു ഒന്നും അവനെ കൂടാതെ ഉളവായതല്ല.

⁴അവനിൽ ജീവൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ജീവൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വെളിച്ചമായിരുന്നു.

⁵വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളിൽ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുളോ അതിനെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയില്ല.

⁶ദൈവം അയച്ചിട്ടു ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ വന്നു; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ.

⁷അവൻ സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി, താൻമുഖാന്തരം എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറവാൻ തന്നേ വന്നു.

⁸അവൻ വെളിച്ചം ആയിരുന്നില്ല; വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയേണ്ടുന്നവനത്രേ.

⁹ഏതു മനുഷ്യനെയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സത്യവെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

¹⁰അവൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ലോകം അവൻമുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ലോകമോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

¹¹അവൻ സ്വന്തത്തിലേക്കു വന്നു; സ്വന്തമായവരോ അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടില്ല.

¹²അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവൎക്കും ദൈവമക്കൾ ആകുവാൻ അവൻ അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.

¹³അവർ രക്തത്തിൽ നിന്നല്ല, ജഡത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലല്ല, പുരുഷന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലുമല്ല, ദൈവത്തിൽ നിന്നത്രേ ജനിച്ചതു.

¹⁴വചനം ജഡമായി തീൎന്നു, കൃപയും സത്യവും നിറഞ്ഞവനായി നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പാൎത്തു. ഞങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ തേജസ്സ് പിതാവിൽ നിന്നു ഏകജാതനായവന്റെ തേജസ്സായി കണ്ടു.

¹⁵യോഹന്നാൻ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു: എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പനായി തീൎന്നു; അവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁶അവന്റെ നിറവിൽ നിന്നു നമുക്കു എല്ലാവൎക്കും കൃപമേൽ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁷ന്യായപ്രമാണം മോശെമുഖാന്തരം ലഭിച്ചു; കൃപയും സത്യവും യേശുക്രിസ്തുമുഖാന്തരം വന്നു.

¹⁸ദൈവത്തെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല; പിതാവിന്റെ മടിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രൻ അവനെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.

²Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

³Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.

⁴Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

⁵Abraham was one hundred years old when his son, Isaac, was born to him.

⁶Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

⁷She said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.”

⁸The child grew and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

¹അനന്തരം യഹോവ താൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുപോലെ സാറയെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു; താൻ വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതു യഹോവ സാറെക്കു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

²അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ ദൈവം അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അവധിക്കു സാറാ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

³സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകന്നു അവൻ യിസ്ഹാൿ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

⁴ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ അവൻ തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു എട്ടാം ദിവസം പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിച്ചു.

⁵തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാൿ ജനിച്ചപ്പോൾ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

⁶ദൈവം എനിക്കു ചിരിയുണ്ടാക്കി; കേൾക്കുന്നവരെല്ലാം എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ചിരിക്കും എന്നു സാറാ പറഞ്ഞു.

⁷സാറാ മക്കൾക്കു മുലകൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ആർ പറയുമായിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിലല്ലോ ഞാൻ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നും അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

⁸പൈതൽ വളർന്നു മുലകുടി മാറി; യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ മുലകുടി മാറിയ നാളിൽ അബ്രാഹാം ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

¹But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

²The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.

³You have multiplied the nation.

⁴For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.

⁵For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.

⁶For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

⁷Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.

¹എന്നാൽ കഷ്ടതയിൽ ഇരുന്ന ദേശത്തിന്നു തിമിരം നിൽക്കയില്ല; പണ്ടു അവൻ സെബൂലൂൻ ദേശത്തിന്നു നഫ്താലിദേശത്തിന്നും ഹീനത വരുത്തിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നത്തേതിൽ അവൻ കടൽവഴിയായി യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മണ്ഡലത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം വരുത്തും.

²ഇരുട്ടിൽ നടന്ന ജനം വലിയൊരു വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു; അന്ധതമസ്സുള്ള ദേശത്തു പാർത്തവരുടെ മേൽ പ്രകാശം ശോഭിച്ചു.

³നീ വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ജാതിയെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവർ നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്ന സന്തോഷം കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തിലെ സന്തോഷംപോലെയും കൊള്ളപങ്കിടുമ്പോൾ ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നതു പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

⁴അവൻ ചുമക്കുന്ന നുകവും അവന്റെ ചുമലിലെ കോലും അവനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്റെ വടിയും മിദ്യാന്റെ നാളിലെപ്പോലെ നീ ഒടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁵ഒച്ചയോടെ ചവിട്ടി നടക്കുന്ന യോദ്ധാവിന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൊക്കെയും രക്തംപിരണ്ട വസ്ത്രവും വിറകുപോലെ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീരും.

⁶നമുക്കു ഒരു ശിശു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നമുക്കു ഒരു മകൻ നല്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആധിപത്യം അവന്റെ തോളിൽ ഇരിക്കും; അവന്നു അത്ഭുതമന്ത്രി, വീരനാം ദൈവം, നിത്യപിതാവു, സമാധാന പ്രഭു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.

⁷അവന്റെ ആധിപത്യത്തിന്റെ വർദ്ധനെക്കും സമാധാനത്തിന്നും അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിലും അവന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിലും ഇന്നുമുതൽ എന്നെന്നേക്കും അവൻ അതിനെ ന്യായത്തോടും നീതിയോടും കൂടെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു നിലനിർത്തും; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ തീക്ഷണത അതിനെ നിവർത്തിക്കും.

¹That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life

²(and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us);

³that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

⁴And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.

⁵This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

⁶If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie and don’t tell the truth.

⁷But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.

⁸If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

⁹If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

¹⁰If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

¹ആദിമുതലുള്ളതും ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടതും സ്വന്ത കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കണ്ടതും ഞങ്ങൾ നോക്കിയതും

²ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൈ തൊട്ടതും ആയ ജീവന്റെ വചനം സംബന്ധിച്ചു — ജീവൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി, ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കയും പിതാവിനോടുകൂടെയിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷമായ നിത്യജീവനെ നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു —

³ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടും കേട്ടുമുള്ളതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടു കൂട്ടായ്മ ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടും അറിയിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടായ്മയോ പിതാവിനോടും അവന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനോടും ആകുന്നു.

⁴നമ്മുടെ സന്തോഷം പൂൎണ്ണമാകുവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ഇതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുതുന്നു.

⁵ദൈവം വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു; അവനിൽ ഇരുട്ടു ഒട്ടും ഇല്ല എന്നുള്ളതു ഞങ്ങൾ അവനോടു കേട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്ന ദൂതാകുന്നു.

⁶അവനോടു കൂട്ടായ്മ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറകയും ഇരുട്ടിൽ നടക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ നാം ഭോഷ്ക്കു പറയുന്നു; സത്യം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

⁷അവൻ വെളിച്ചത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നാം വെളിച്ചത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നമുക്കു തമ്മിൽ കൂട്ടായ്മ ഉണ്ടു; അവന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുവിന്റെ രക്തം സകല പാപവും പോക്കി നമ്മെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നു.

⁸നമുക്കു പാപം ഇല്ല എന്നു നാം പറയുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നമ്മെത്തന്നേ വഞ്ചിക്കുന്നു; സത്യം നമ്മിൽ ഇല്ലാതെയായി.

⁹നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റുപറയുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അവൻ നമ്മോടു പാപങ്ങളെ ക്ഷമിച്ചു സകല അനീതിയും പോക്കി നമ്മെ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം വിശ്വസ്തനും നീതിമാനും ആകുന്നു.

¹⁰നാം പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ അവനെ അസത്യവാദിയാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനം നമ്മിൽ ഇല്ലാതെയായി.

²³But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

²⁴So that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

²⁵But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

²⁶For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.

²⁷For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

²⁸There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

²⁹If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

¹But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all,

²but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.

³So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.

⁴But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,

⁵that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as children.

⁶And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”

⁷So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

²³വിശ്വാസം വരുംമുമ്പെ നമ്മെ വെളിപ്പെടുവാനിരുന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തിന്നായിക്കൊണ്ടു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിങ്കീഴ് അടെച്ചു സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു.

²⁴അങ്ങനെ നാം വിശ്വാസത്താൽ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണം ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു നടത്തുവാൻ നമുക്കു ശിശുപാലകനായി ഭവിച്ചു.

²⁵വിശ്വാസം വന്ന ശേഷമോ നാം ഇനി ശിശുപാലകന്റെ കീഴിൽ അല്ല.

²⁶ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലെ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾ ആകുന്നു.

²⁷ക്രിസ്തുവിനോടു ചേരുവാൻ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരും ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

²⁸അതിൽ യെഹൂദനും യവനനും എന്നില്ല; ദാസനും സ്വതന്ത്രനും എന്നില്ല, ആണും പെണ്ണും എന്നുമില്ല; നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ക്രിസ്തു യേശുവിൽ ഒന്നത്രേ.

²⁹ക്രിസ്തുവിന്നുള്ളവർ എങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങൾ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സന്തതിയും വാഗ്ദത്തപ്രകാരം അവകാശികളും ആകുന്നു.

¹അവകാശി സർവ്വത്തിന്നും യജമാനൻ എങ്കിലും ശിശുവായിരിക്കുന്നേടത്തോളം ദാസനെക്കാൾ ഒട്ടും വിശേഷതയുള്ളവനല്ല,

²പിതാവു നിശ്ചയിച്ച അവധിയോളം രക്ഷകന്മാർക്കും ഗൃഹവിചാരകന്മാർക്കും കീഴ്പെട്ടവനത്രേ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു.

³അതുപോലെ നാമും ശിശുക്കൾ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ ആദി പാഠങ്ങളിൻ കീഴ് അടിമപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

⁴എന്നാൽ കാലസമ്പൂർണ്ണതവന്നപ്പോൾ ദൈവം തന്റെ പുത്രനെ സ്ത്രീയിൽനിന്നു ജനിച്ചവനായി ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൻ കീഴ് ജനിച്ചവനായി നിയോഗിച്ചയച്ചതു

⁵അവൻ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൻ കീഴുള്ളവരെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിട്ടു നാം പുത്രത്വം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

⁶നിങ്ങൾ മക്കൾ ആകകൊണ്ടു അബ്ബാ പിതാവേ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്ന സ്വപുത്രന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ദൈവം നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ അയച്ചു.

⁷അങ്ങനെ നീ ഇനി ദാസനല്ല പുത്രനത്രെ; പുത്രനെങ്കിലോ ദൈവഹിതത്താൽ അവകാശിയും ആകുന്നു.

¹Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,

²“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”

³When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

⁴Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.

⁵They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,

⁶‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah,

⁷Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared.

⁸He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”

⁹They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them until it came and stood over where the young child was.

¹⁰When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

¹¹They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

¹²Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.

¹ഹെരോദാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമിൽ ജനിച്ചശേഷം, കിഴക്കുനിന്നു വിദ്വാന്മാർ യെരൂശലേമിൽ എത്തി.

²യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവായി പിറന്നവൻ എവിടെ? ഞങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ നക്ഷത്രം കിഴക്കു കണ്ടു അവനെ നമസ്കരിപ്പാൻ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³ഹെരോദാരാജാവു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവനും യെരൂശലേം ഒക്കെയും ഭ്രമിച്ചു,

⁴ജനത്തിന്റെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെയും എല്ലാം കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി: ക്രിസ്തു എവിടെ ആകുന്നു ജനിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

⁵അവർ അവനോടു: യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമിൽ തന്നേ:

⁶"യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തിലെ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമേ, നീ യെഹൂദ്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരിൽ ഒട്ടും ചെറുതല്ല; എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മേയ്പാനുള്ള തലവൻ നിന്നിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരും" എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁷എന്നാറെ ഹെരോദാവു വിദ്വാന്മാരെ രഹസ്യമായി വിളിച്ചു, നക്ഷത്രം വെളിവായ സമയം അവരോടു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു.

⁸അവരെ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമിലേക്കു അയച്ചു: നിങ്ങൾ ചെന്നു ശിശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി അന്വേഷിപ്പിൻ; കണ്ടെത്തിയാൽ ഞാനും ചെന്നു അവനെ നമസ്ക്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു, വന്നു എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁹രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടു അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ കിഴക്കു കണ്ട നക്ഷത്രം ശിശു ഇരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു മീതെ വന്നു നില്ക്കുവോളം അവൎക്കുമുമ്പായി പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

¹⁰നക്ഷത്രം കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു:

¹¹ആ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു, ശിശുവിനെ അമ്മയായ മറിയയോടുകൂടെ കണ്ടു, വീണു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു; നിക്ഷേപപാത്രങ്ങളെ തുറന്നു അവന്നു പൊന്നും കുന്തുരുക്കവും മൂരും കാഴ്ചവെച്ചു.

¹²ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു എന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിട്ടു അവർ വേറെ വഴിയായി സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

¹God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

²has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.

³His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,

⁴having become as much better than the angels as the more excellent name he has inherited is better than theirs.

⁵For to which of the angels did he say at any time,

⁶When he again brings in the firstborn into the world he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him.”

⁷Of the angels he says,

⁸But of the Son he says,

⁹You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity;

¹⁰And,

¹¹They will perish, but you continue.

¹²You will roll them up like a mantle,

¹ദൈവം പണ്ടു ഭാഗം ഭാഗമായിട്ടും വിവിധമായിട്ടും പ്രവാചകന്മാർമുഖാന്തരം പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടു

²ഈ അന്ത്യകാലത്തു പുത്രൻ മുഖാന്തരം നമ്മോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. അവനെ താൻ സകലത്തിന്നും അവകാശിയാക്കി വെച്ചു; അവൻ മുഖാന്തരം ലോകത്തെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

³അവൻ അവന്റെ തേജസ്സിന്റെ പ്രഭയും തത്വത്തിന്റെ മുദ്രയും സകലത്തേയും തന്റെ ശക്തിയുള്ള വചനത്താൽ വഹിക്കുന്നവനും ആകകൊണ്ടു പാപങ്ങൾക്കു പരിഹാരം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയശേഷം ഉയരത്തിൽ മഹിമയുടെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്കയും

⁴അവൻ ദൈവദൂതന്മാരെക്കാൾ വിശിഷ്ടമായ നാമത്തിന്നു അവകാശിയായതിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം അവരെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്തു.

⁵“നീ എന്റെ പുത്രൻ ; ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നും “ഞാൻ അവന്നു പിതാവും അവൻ എനിക്കു പുത്രനും ആയിരിക്കും” എന്നും ദൂതന്മാരിൽ ആരോടെങ്കിലും വല്ലപ്പോഴും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

⁶ആദ്യജാതനെ പിന്നെയും ഭൂതലത്തിലേക്കു പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ: “ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സകലദൂതന്മാരും അവനെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണം” എന്നു താൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

⁷“അവൻ കാറ്റുകളെ തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരും അഗ്നിജ്വാലയെ തന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരും ആക്കുന്നു” എന്നു ദൂതന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയുന്നു.

⁸പുത്രനോടോ: “ദൈവമേ, നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നും എന്നേക്കുമുള്ളതു; നിന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിന്റെ ചെങ്കോൽ നേരുള്ള ചെങ്കോൽ.

⁹നീ നീതിയെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയും ദുഷ്ടതയെ ദ്വേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കയാൽ ദൈവമേ, നിന്റെ ദൈവം നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരിൽ പരമായി നിന്നെ ആനന്ദതൈലംകൊണ്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നും

¹⁰“കർത്താവേ, നീ പൂർവ്വകാലത്തു ഭൂമിക്കു അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടു, ആകാശവും നിന്റെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തി ആകുന്നു.

¹¹അവ നശിക്കും; നീയോ നിലനിലക്കും; അവ എല്ലാം വസ്ത്രംപോലെ പഴകിപ്പോകും;

¹²ഉടുപ്പുപോലെ നീ അവയെ ചുരുട്ടും; വസ്ത്രംപോലെ അവ മാറിപ്പോകും; നീയോ അനന്യൻ ; നിന്റെ സംവത്സരങ്ങൾ അവസാനിക്കയുമില്ല” എന്നും പറയുന്നു.

¹Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.

²This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

³All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.

⁴Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to David’s city, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

⁵to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.

⁶While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth.

⁷She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.

⁸There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

⁹Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

¹⁰The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.

¹¹For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

¹²This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”

¹³Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God and saying,

¹⁴“Glory to God in the highest,

¹ആ കാലത്തു ലോകം ഒക്കെയും പേർവഴി ചാർത്തേണം എന്നു ഔഗുസ്തൊസ് കൈസരുടെ ഒരു ആജ്ഞ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

²കുറേന്യൊസ് സുറിയനാടു വാഴുമ്പോൾ ഈ ഒന്നാമത്തെ ചാർത്തൽ ഉണ്ടായി.

³എല്ലാവരും ചാർത്തപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു താന്താന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി.

⁴അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിലും കുലത്തിലും ഉള്ളവൻ ആകകൊണ്ടു തനിക്കു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന മറിയ എന്ന ഗർഭിണിയായ ഭാര്യയോടും കൂടെ ചാർത്തപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഗലീലയിലെ നസറത്ത് പട്ടണം വിട്ടു,

⁵യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ ബേത്ളേഹെം എന്ന ദാവീദിൻ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

⁶അവർ അവിടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവൾക്കു പ്രസവത്തിനുള്ള കാലം തികെഞ്ഞു.

⁷അവൾ ആദ്യജാതനായ മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു, ശീലകൾ ചുറ്റി വഴിയമ്പലത്തിൽ അവർക്കും സ്ഥലം ഇല്ലായ്കയാൽ പശുത്തൊട്ടിയിൽ കിടത്തി.

⁸അന്നു ആ പ്രദേശത്തു ഇടയന്മാർ രാത്രിയിൽ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെ കാവൽകാത്തു വെളിയിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

⁹അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവിന്റെ ഒരു ദൂതൻ അവരുടെ അരികെ നിന്നു, കർത്താവിന്റെ തേജസ്സ് അവരെ ചുറ്റിമിന്നി, അവർ ഭയപരവശരായിതീർന്നു.

¹⁰ദൂതൻ അവരോടു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; സർവ്വജനത്തിന്നും ഉണ്ടാവാനുള്ളോരു മഹാസന്തോഷം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു സുവിശേഷിക്കുന്നു.

¹¹കർത്താവായ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന രക്ഷിതാവു ഇന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കായി ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹²നിങ്ങൾക്കു അടയാളമോ; ശീലകൾ ചുറ്റി പശുത്തൊട്ടിയിൽ കിടക്കുന്ന ഒരു ശിശുവിനെ നിങ്ങൾ കാണും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹³പെട്ടെന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗീയ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ ഒരു സംഘം ദൂതനോടു ചേർന്നു ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തി.

¹⁴“അത്യുന്നതങ്ങളിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം; ഭൂമിയിൽ ദൈവപ്രസാദമുള്ള മനുഷ്യർക്കും സമാധാനം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
