⁴I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.

⁵While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

⁶When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud,

⁷and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.

⁴എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി പകൽ ഉള്ളേടത്തോളം നാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; ആർക്കും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുകൂടാത്ത രാത്രി വരുന്നു;

⁵ഞാൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ നിലത്തു തുപ്പി തുപ്പൽകൊണ്ടു ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി ചേറു അവന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേൽ പൂശി

⁷നീ ചെന്നു ശിലോഹാംകുളത്തിൽ കഴുകുക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ശിലോഹാം എന്നതിന്നു അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ എന്നർത്ഥം. അവൻ പോയി കഴുകി, കണ്ണു കാണുന്നവനായി മടങ്ങിവന്നു.

⁶He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.

⁷He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down! Why does it waste the soil?’

⁸He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.

⁹If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’ ”

⁶അവൻ ഈ ഉപമയും പറഞ്ഞു: ഒരുത്തന്നു തന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ നട്ടിരുന്നോരു അത്തിവൃക്ഷം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ അതിൽ ഫലം തിരഞ്ഞുവന്നു, കണ്ടില്ലതാനും.

¹Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you.

²I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

³I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

⁴So Abram went, as Yahweh had told him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

⁵Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. They entered into the land of Canaan.

⁶Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time, Canaanites were in the land.

⁷Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your offspring.”

⁸He left from there to go to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on Yahweh’s name.

⁹Abram traveled, still going on toward the South.

¹യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ നിൻറെ ദേശത്തെയും ചാർച്ചക്കാരെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തെയും വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഞാൻനിന്നെ കാണിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തെക്കു പോക.

²ഞാൻനിന്നെ വലിയോരു ജാതിയാക്കും; നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു നിൻറെ പേർ വലുതാക്കും; നീ ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹമായിരിക്കും.

³നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻഅനുഗ്രഹിക്കും. നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻശപിക്കും; നിന്നിൽ ഭൂമിയിലെ സകല വംശങ്ങളും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.

⁴യഹോവ തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അബ്രാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ലോത്തും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; ഹാരാനിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ അബ്രാമിന്നു എഴുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

⁵അബ്രാം തൻറെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിയെയും സഹോദരൻറെ മകനായ ലോത്തിനെയും തങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ സമ്പത്തുകളെയൊക്കെയും തങ്ങൾ ഹാരാനിൽ വെച്ചു സമ്പാദിച്ച ആളുകളെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു കനാൻദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാൻപുറപ്പെട്ടു കനാൻദേശത്തു എത്തി.

⁶അബ്രാം ശേഖേമെന്ന സ്ഥലംവരെയും ഏലോൻമോരെവരെയും ദേശത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു. അന്നു കനാന്യൻദേശത്തു പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

⁷യഹോവ അബ്രാമിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി: നിൻറെ സന്തതിക്കു ഞാൻഈ ദേശം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. തനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായ യഹോവെക്കു അവൻഅവിടെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.

⁸അവൻഅവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള മലെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ബേഥേൽ പടിഞ്ഞാറും ഹായി കിഴക്കുമായി കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അവൻയഹോവെക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ആരാധിച്ചു.

⁹അബ്രാം പിന്നെയും തെക്കോട്ടു യാത്രചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

¹²Now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God require of you, but to fear Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, and to serve Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

¹³to keep Yahweh’s commandments and statutes, which I command you today for your good?

¹⁴Behold, to Yahweh your God belongs heaven, the heaven of heavens, and the earth, with all that is therein.

¹⁵Only Yahweh had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their offspring after them, even you above all peoples, as it is today.

¹⁶Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.

¹⁷For Yahweh your God, he is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awesome, who doesn’t respect persons or take bribes.

¹⁸He executes justice for the fatherless and widow and loves the foreigner in giving him food and clothing.

¹⁹Therefore love the foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

²⁰You shall fear Yahweh your God. You shall serve him. You shall cling to him, and you shall swear by his name.

²¹He is your praise, and he is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen.

²²Your fathers went down into Egypt with seventy persons; and now Yahweh your God has made you as the stars of the sky for multitude.

¹Therefore you shall love Yahweh your God, and keep his instructions, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments, always.

¹²ആകയാൽ യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും അവന്റെ എല്ലാവഴികളിലും നടക്കയും അവനെ സ്നേഹിക്കയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടുംകൂടെ സേവിക്കയും

¹³ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനകളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും നിന്റെ നന്മെക്കായി പ്രമാണിക്കയും വേണം എന്നല്ലാതെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

¹⁴ഇതാ, സ്വർഗ്ഗവും സ്വർഗ്ഗാധി സ്വർഗ്ഗവും ഭൂമിയും അതിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കുള്ളവ ആകുന്നു.

¹⁵നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു മാത്രം യഹോവേക്കു പ്രീതിതോന്നി അവരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; അവരുടെ ശേഷം അവരുടെ സന്തതിയായ നിങ്ങളെ ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ അവൻ സകലജാതികളിലും വെച്ചു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

¹⁶ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ അഗ്രചർമ്മം പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്‍വിൻ ; ഇനിമേൽ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ളവരാകരുതു.

¹⁷നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ദേവാധിദൈവവും കർത്താധികർത്താവുമായി വല്ലഭനും ഭയങ്കരനുമായ മഹാദൈവമല്ലോ; അവൻ മുഖം നോക്കുന്നില്ല പ്രതിഫലം വാങ്ങുന്നതുമില്ല.

¹⁸അവൻ അനാഥർക്കും വിധവമാർക്കും ന്യായം നടത്തിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നു; പരദേശിയെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു അവന്നു അന്നവും വസ്ത്രവും നലകുന്നു.

¹⁹ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ പരദേശിയെ സ്നേഹിപ്പിൻ ; നിങ്ങളും മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു പരദേശികളായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

²⁰നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണം; അവനെ സേവിക്കേണം; അവനോടു ചേർന്നിരിക്കേണം; അവന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യം ചെയ്യേണം.

²¹അവൻ ആകുന്നു നിന്റെ പുകഴ്ച; അവൻ ആകുന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവം; നീ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള മഹത്തും ഭയങ്കരവുമായ കാര്യങ്ങളെ നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതു അവൻ തന്നേ.

²²നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ എഴുപതു ദേഹികളായി മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ഇപ്പോഴോ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ പെരുക്കി ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നീ സ്നേഹിച്ചു അവന്റെ പ്രമാണവും ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും കല്പനകളും എല്ലായ്പോഴും പ്രമാണിക്കേണം.

²¹“But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die.

²²None of his transgressions that he has committed will be remembered against him. In his righteousness that he has done, he shall live.

²³Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” says the Lord Yahweh, “and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?

²⁴“But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.

²¹എന്നാൽ ദുഷ്ടൻ താൻ ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളെയും വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു, നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ, അവൻ മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

²²അവൻ ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളിൽ ഔന്നിനെയും അവന്നു കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവൻ ചെയ്ത നീതിയാൽ അവൻ ജീവിക്കും.

²³ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മരണത്തിൽ എനിക്കു അല്പമെങ്കിലും താല്പര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? അവൻ തന്റെ വഴികളെ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിക്കേണമെന്നല്ലയോ എന്റെ താല്പര്യം എന്നു യഹോവയായ കർത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

²⁴എന്നാൽ നീതിമാൻ തന്റെ നീതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു, ദുഷ്ടൻ ചെയ്യുന്ന സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളെയുംപോലെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിൽ, അവൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവൻ ചെയ്ത നീതിയൊന്നും കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവൻ ചെയ്ത ദ്രോഹത്താലും അവൻ ചെയ്ത പാപത്താലും അവൻ മരിക്കും.

¹³Don’t be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.

¹⁴We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn’t love his brother remains in death.

¹⁵Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.

¹⁶By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

¹⁷But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?

¹⁸My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.

¹³സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ലോകം നിങ്ങളെ പകെക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെടരുതു.

¹⁴നാം മരണം വിട്ടു ജീവനിൽ കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സഹോദരന്മാരെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ നമുക്കു അറിയാം. സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവൻ മരണത്തിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁵സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം കുലപാതകൻ ആകുന്നു. യാതൊരു കുലപാതകന്നും നിത്യജീവൻ ഉള്ളിൽ വസിച്ചിരിപ്പില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു.

¹⁶അവൻ നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ വെച്ചുകൊടുത്തതിനാൽ നാം സ്നേഹം എന്തു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നാമും സഹോദരന്മാൎക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാണനെ വെച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

¹⁷എന്നാൽ ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ വസ്തുവകയുള്ളവൻ ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനോടു മനസ്സലിവു കാണിക്കാഞ്ഞാൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്നേഹം അവനിൽ എങ്ങനെ വസിക്കും?

¹⁸കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നാം വാക്കിനാലും നാവിനാലും അല്ല, പ്രവൃത്തിയിലും സത്യത്തിലും തന്നേ സ്നേഹിക്കുക.

²⁸For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;

²⁹but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

¹Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?

²Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the revelations of God.

³For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

⁴May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written,

⁵But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.

⁶May it never be! For then how will God judge the world?

⁷For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

⁸Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), “Let’s do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.

²⁸പുറമെ യെഹൂദനായവൻ യെഹൂദനല്ല; പുറമെ ജഡത്തിലുള്ളതു പരിച്ഛേദനയുമല്ല;

²⁹അകമെ യെഹൂദനായവനത്രേ യെഹൂദൻ ; അക്ഷരത്തിലല്ല ആത്മാവിലുള്ള ഹൃദയപരിച്ഛേദനയത്രേ പരിച്ഛേദന; അവന്നു മനുഷ്യരാലല്ല ദൈവത്താൽ തന്നേ പുകഴ്ച ലഭിക്കും.

¹എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദന്നു എന്തു വിശേഷത? അല്ല, പരിച്ഛേദനയാൽ എന്തു പ്രയോജനം?

²സകലവിധത്തിലും വളരെ ഉണ്ടു; ഒന്നാമതു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുകൾ അവരുടെ പക്കൽ സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ.

³ചിലർ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല എങ്കിൽ അവരുടെ അവിശ്വാസത്താൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തതെക്കു നീക്കം വരുമോ? ഒരുനാളും ഇല്ല.

⁴“നിന്റെ വാക്കുകളിൽ നീ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടുവാനും, നിന്റെ ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിൽ ജയിപ്പാനും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ദൈവം സത്യവാൻ , സകല മനുഷ്യരും ഭോഷകു പറയുന്നവർ എന്നേ വരൂ.

⁵എന്നാൽ നമ്മുടെ അനീതി ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നീതിയെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നാം എന്തു പറയും? ശിക്ഷ നടത്തുന്ന ദൈവം നീതിയില്ലാത്തവൻ എന്നോ? ഞാൻ മാനുഷരീതിയിൽ പറയുന്നു — ഒരുനാളുമല്ല;

⁶അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ദൈവം ലോകത്തെ എങ്ങനെ വിധിക്കും?

⁷ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സത്യം എന്റെ ഭോഷ്കിനാൽ അവന്റെ മഹത്വത്തിന്നായി അധികം തെളിവായി എങ്കിൽ എന്നെ പാപി എന്നു വിധിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

⁸നല്ലതു വരേണ്ടതിന്നു തീയതുചെയ്ക എന്നു പറയരുതോ? ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചിലർ ഞങ്ങളെ ദുഷിച്ചുപറയുന്നുവല്ലോ. ഇവർക്കും വരുന്ന ശിക്ഷാവിധി നീതിയുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

⁵I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

⁶If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

⁷If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

⁸“In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.

⁹Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.

¹⁰If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

¹¹I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.

¹²“This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.

¹³Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁴You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.

¹⁵No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

¹⁶You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

¹⁷“I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

¹⁸If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.

¹⁹If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

⁵ഞാൻ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയും നിങ്ങൾ കൊമ്പുകളും ആകുന്നു; ഒരുത്തൻ എന്നിലും ഞാൻ അവനിലും വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അവൻ വളരെ ഫലം കായക്കും; എന്നെ പിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഒന്നും ചെയ്‍വാൻ കഴികയില്ല.

⁶എന്നിൽ വസിക്കാത്തവനെ ഒരു കൊമ്പുപോലെ പുറത്തു കളഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു; ആ വക ചേർത്തു തീയിൽ ഇടുന്നു;

⁷അതു വെന്തുപോകും. നിങ്ങൾ എന്നിലും എന്റെ വചനം നിങ്ങളിലും വസിച്ചാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എന്തെങ്കിലും അപേക്ഷിപ്പിൻ ; അതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു കിട്ടും.

⁸നിങ്ങൾ വളരെ ഫലം കായക്കുന്നതിനാൽ എന്റെ പിതാവു മഹത്വപ്പെടുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ആകും.
