¹⁶“A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”

¹⁷Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father’ ?”

¹⁸They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’ ? We don’t know what he is saying.”

¹⁹Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?

²⁰Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

²¹A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.

²²Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

²³“In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

²⁴Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

²⁵“I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

²⁶In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,

²⁷for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.

²⁸I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”

²⁹His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you are speaking plainly, and using no figures of speech.

³⁰Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came from God.”

¹⁶കുറഞ്ഞോന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല; പിന്നെയും കുറഞ്ഞോന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണും.

²⁴ഇന്നുവരെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ ഒന്നും അപേക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; അപേക്ഷിപ്പിൻ ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തോഷം പൂർണ്ണമാകുംവണ്ണം നിങ്ങൾക്കു ലഭിക്കും.

²⁵ഇതു ഞാൻ സദൃശമായി നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ ഇനി സദൃശമായി നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കാതെ പിതാവിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു സ്പഷ്ടമായി നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു.

²⁶അന്നു നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ അപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പിതാവിനോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ പറയുന്നില്ല.

²⁷നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു, ഞാൻ പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു പിതാവു താനും നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

²⁸ഞാൻ പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ലോകത്തിൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെയും ലോകത്തെ വിട്ടു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുന്നു.

²⁹അതിന്നു അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ: ഇപ്പോൾ നീ സദൃശം ഒന്നും പറയാതെ സ്പഷ്ടമായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.

¹“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.

²In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

³If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

⁴You know where I go, and you know the way.”

⁵Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

⁷If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him.”

⁸Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

⁹Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

¹⁰Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.

¹¹Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

¹²Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

¹³Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

¹⁵If you love me, keep my commandments.

¹⁶I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever:

¹നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം കലങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു; ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ , എന്നിലും വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ .

¹⁵നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളും.

¹⁶എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ പിതാവിനോടു ചോദിക്കും; അവൻ സത്യത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്ന മറ്റൊരു കാര്യസ്ഥനെ എന്നേക്കും നിങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരും.

¹Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover to Yahweh your God; for in the month of Abib Yahweh your God brought you out of Egypt by night.

²You shall sacrifice the Passover to Yahweh your God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which Yahweh shall choose to cause his name to dwell there.

³You shall eat no leavened bread with it. You shall eat unleavened bread with it seven days, even the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste) that you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

⁴No yeast shall be seen with you in all your borders seven days; neither shall any of the meat, which you sacrifice the first day at evening, remain all night until the morning.

⁵You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates which Yahweh your God gives you;

⁶but at the place which Yahweh your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell in, there you shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that you came out of Egypt.

⁷You shall roast and eat it in the place which Yahweh your God chooses. In the morning you shall return to your tents.

⁸Six days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to Yahweh your God. You shall do no work.

³⁰Then Joshua built an altar to Yahweh, the God of Israel, on Mount Ebal,

³¹as Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses: an altar of uncut stones, on which no one had lifted up any iron. They offered burnt offerings on it to Yahweh and sacrificed peace offerings.

³²He wrote there on the stones a copy of Moses’ law, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.

³³All Israel, with their elders, officers, and judges, stood on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests, who carried the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, the foreigner as well as the native; half of them in front of Mount Gerizim, and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of Yahweh had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Israel.

³⁴Afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in the book of the law.

³⁵There was not a word of all that Moses commanded which Joshua didn’t read before all the assembly of Israel, with the women, the little ones, and the foreigners who were among them.

³⁰അനന്തരം യോശുവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു ഏബാൽപർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.

³¹യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെയും മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും ചെത്തുകയോ ഇരിമ്പു തൊടുവിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാത്ത കല്ലുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു യാഗപീഠം തന്നേ. അവർ അതിന്മേൽ യഹോവേക്കു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അർപ്പിച്ചു.

³⁴അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവർ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അനുഗ്രഹവും ശാപവുമായ ന്യായപ്രമാണവചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം വായിച്ചു.

³⁵മോശെ കല്പിച്ച സകലത്തിലും സ്ത്രീകളും കുട്ടികളും ഉൾപ്പെടെ യിസ്രായേൽസഭ മുഴുവനും അവരോടു കൂടെ വന്നിരുന്ന പരദേശികളും കേൾക്കെ യോശുവ മോശെ കല്പിച്ച സകലത്തിലും യാതൊന്നും വായിക്കാതെ വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞില്ല.

¹“Sing, barren, you who didn’t give birth!

²“Enlarge the place of your tent,

³For you will spread out on the right hand and on the left;

⁴“Don’t be afraid, for you will not be ashamed.

⁵For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of Armies is his name.

⁶For Yahweh has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,

⁷“For a small moment I have forsaken you,

⁸In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment,

³നീ ഇടത്തോട്ടും വലത്തോട്ടും പരക്കും; നിന്റെ സൻ തതി ജാതികളുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ശൂൻ യനഗരങ്ങളിൽ നിവാസികളെ പാർ‍പ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും

⁴ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട, നീ ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകയില്ല; ഭ്രമിക്കേണ്ടാ, നീ നാണിച്ചുപോകയില്ല; നിന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ ലജ്ജ നീ മറക്കും; നിന്റെ വൈധവ്യത്തിലെ നിൻ ദ ഇനി ഔർ‍ക്കയുമില്ല

⁶ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു മനോവ്യസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രിയെ എന്നപോലെ യഹോവ നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യൌവനത്തിൽ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തിട്ടു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞ ഭാർയയെ എന്നപോലെ തന്നേ എന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

⁷അല്പനേരത്തെക്കു മാത്രം ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും മഹാകരുണയോടെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ചേർത്തുകൊള്ളും

¹⁷For it is better, if it is God’s will, that you suffer for doing what is right than for doing evil.

¹⁷നിങ്ങൾ കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണം എന്നു ദൈവഹിതമെങ്കിൽ തിന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു സഹിക്കുന്നതു ഏറ്റവും നന്നു.

³³who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

³⁴quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.

³⁵Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.

³⁶Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.

³⁷They were stoned. They were sawn apart. They were tempted. They were slain with the sword. They went around in sheep skins and in goat skins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated—

³⁸of whom the world was not worthy—wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.

³⁹These all, having been commended for their faith, didn’t receive the promise,

⁴⁰God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

³³വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവർ രാജ്യങ്ങളെ അടക്കി, നീതി നടത്തി, വാഗ്ദത്തം പ്രാപിച്ചു, സിംഹങ്ങളുടെ വായ് അടെച്ചു

³⁹അവർ എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വാസത്താൽ സാക്ഷ്യം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടും വാഗ്ദത്തനിവൃത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചില്ല.

⁴⁰അവർ നമ്മെ കൂടാതെ രക്ഷാപൂർത്തി പ്രാപിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി ഏറ്റവും നല്ലതൊന്നു മുൻ കരുതിയിരുന്നു.

⁵⁹വേറൊരുത്തനോടു: എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാറെ അവൻ : ഞാൻ മുമ്പെ പോയി എന്റെ അപ്പനെ കുഴിച്ചിടുവാൻ അനുവാദം തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶⁰അവൻ അവനോടു: മരിച്ചവർ തങ്ങളുടെ മരിച്ചവരെ കുഴിച്ചിടട്ടെ; നീയോ പോയി ദൈവരാജ്യം അറിയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶¹മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ : കർത്താവേ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കാം; ആദ്യം എന്റെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരോടു യാത്ര പറവാൻ അനുവാദം തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶²യേശു അവനോടു: കലപ്പെക്കു കൈ വെച്ച ശേഷം പുറകോട്ടു നോക്കുന്നവൻ ആരും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവനല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
