¹⁵So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?”

¹⁶He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?”

¹⁷He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?”

¹⁸Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you don’t want to go.”

¹⁹Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”

²⁰Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus’ chest at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”

²¹Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”

²²Jesus said to him, “If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me.”

²³This saying therefore went out among the brothers that this disciple wouldn’t die. Yet Jesus didn’t say to him that he wouldn’t die, but, “If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?”

²⁴This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.

²⁵There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn’t have room for the books that would be written.

¹⁵അവർ പ്രാതൽ കഴിച്ചശേഷം യേശു ശിമോൻ പത്രൊസിനോടു: യോഹന്നാന്റെ മകനായ ശിമോനേ, നീ ഇവരിൽ അധികമായി എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ : ഉവ്വു, കർത്താവേ, എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടു എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെ മേയ്ക്ക എന്നു അവൻ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁶രണ്ടാമതും അവനോടു: യോഹന്നാന്റെ മകനായ ശിമോനേ, നീ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ ഉവ്വു കർത്താവേ, എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടു എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ ആടുകളെ പാലിക്ക എന്നു അവൻ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁷മൂന്നാമതും അവനോടു: യോഹന്നാന്റെ മകനായ ശിമോനേ, നിനക്കു എന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടോ എന്നു മൂന്നാമതും ചോദിക്കയാൽ പത്രൊസ് ദുഃഖിച്ചു: കർത്താവേ, നീ സകലവും അറിയുന്നു; എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടു എന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു അവനോടു: എന്റെ ആടുകളെ മേയ്ക്ക.

¹⁸ആമേൻ , ആമേൻ , ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു: നീ യൌവനക്കാരൻ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ നീ തന്നേ അര കെട്ടി ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തു നടന്നു; വയസ്സനായശേഷമോ നീ കൈ നീട്ടുകയും മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ നിന്റെ അര കെട്ടി നിനക്കു ഇഷ്ടമില്ലാത്ത ഇടത്തേക്കു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുപോകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁹അതിനാൽ അവൻ ഇന്നവിധം മരണം കൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തും എന്നു അവൻ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു: എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁰പത്രൊസ് തിരിഞ്ഞു യേശു സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യൻ പിൻ ചെല്ലുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അത്താഴത്തിൽ അവന്റെ നെഞ്ചോടു ചാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു: കർത്താവേ, നിന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവൻ ആർ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതു ഇവൻ തന്നേ.

²¹അവനെ പത്രൊസ് കണ്ടിട്ടു: കർത്താവേ, ഇവന്നു എന്തു ഭവിക്കും എന്നു യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

²²യേശു അവനോടു: ഞാൻ വരുവോളം ഇവൻ ഇരിക്കേണമെന്നു എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതു നിനക്കു എന്തു? നീ എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²³ആകയാൽ ആ ശിഷ്യൻ മരിക്കയില്ല എന്നൊരു ശ്രുതി സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ പരന്നു. യേശുവോ: അവർ മരിക്കയില്ല എന്നല്ല, ഞാൻ വരുവോളം ഇവൻ ഇരിക്കേണം എന്നു എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതു നിനക്കു എന്തു എന്നത്രേ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു.

²⁴ഈ ശിഷ്യൻ ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നവനും ഇതു എഴുതിയവനും ആകുന്നു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു.

²⁵യേശു ചെയ്തതു മറ്റു പലതും ഉണ്ടു; അതു ഔരോന്നായി എഴുതിയാൽ എഴുതിയ പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ ലോകത്തിൽ തന്നേയും ഒതുങ്ങുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിരൂപിക്കുന്നു.

¹³Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

¹⁴They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

¹⁵He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

¹⁶Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

¹⁷Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁸I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

¹⁹I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”

²⁰Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

¹³യേശു ഫിലിപ്പിന്റെ കൈസര്യയുടെ പ്രദേശത്തു എത്തിയശേഷം തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടു: “ജനങ്ങൾ മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ ആർ എന്നു പറയുന്നു?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹⁴ചിലർ യോഹന്നാൻ സ്നാപകൻ എന്നും മറ്റു ചിലർ ഏലീയാവെന്നും വേറെ ചിലർ യിരെമ്യാവോ പ്രവാചകന്മാരിൽ ഒരുത്തനോ എന്നും പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁵“നിങ്ങളോ എന്നെ ആർ എന്നു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ശിമോൻ പത്രൊസ്:

¹⁶നീ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തുഎന്നും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁷യേശു അവനോടു: “ബർയോനാശിമോനെ, നീ ഭാഗ്യവാൻ ; ജഡരക്തങ്ങൾ അല്ല, സ്വർഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ എന്റെ പിതാവത്രെ നിനക്കു ഇതു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയതു.

¹⁸നീ പത്രൊസ് ആകുന്നു; ഈ പാറമേൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഭയെ പണിയും; പാതാളഗോപുരങ്ങൾ അതിനെ ജയിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു.

¹⁹സ്വർഗ്ഗ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ താക്കോൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു തരുന്നു; നീ ഭൂമിയിൽ കെട്ടുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ കെട്ടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും; നീ ഭൂമിയിൽ അഴിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ അഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁰പിന്നെ താൻ ക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു എന്നു ആരോടും പറയാതിരിപ്പാൻ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

¹Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you.

²I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

³I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

⁴So Abram went, as Yahweh had told him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

⁵Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. They entered into the land of Canaan.

⁶Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time, Canaanites were in the land.

⁷Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your offspring.”

⁸He left from there to go to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on Yahweh’s name.

⁹Abram traveled, still going on toward the South.

¹യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ നിൻറെ ദേശത്തെയും ചാർച്ചക്കാരെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തെയും വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഞാൻനിന്നെ കാണിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തെക്കു പോക.

²ഞാൻനിന്നെ വലിയോരു ജാതിയാക്കും; നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു നിൻറെ പേർ വലുതാക്കും; നീ ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹമായിരിക്കും.

³നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻഅനുഗ്രഹിക്കും. നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻശപിക്കും; നിന്നിൽ ഭൂമിയിലെ സകല വംശങ്ങളും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.

⁴യഹോവ തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അബ്രാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ലോത്തും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; ഹാരാനിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ അബ്രാമിന്നു എഴുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

⁵അബ്രാം തൻറെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിയെയും സഹോദരൻറെ മകനായ ലോത്തിനെയും തങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ സമ്പത്തുകളെയൊക്കെയും തങ്ങൾ ഹാരാനിൽ വെച്ചു സമ്പാദിച്ച ആളുകളെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു കനാൻദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാൻപുറപ്പെട്ടു കനാൻദേശത്തു എത്തി.

⁶അബ്രാം ശേഖേമെന്ന സ്ഥലംവരെയും ഏലോൻമോരെവരെയും ദേശത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു. അന്നു കനാന്യൻദേശത്തു പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

⁷യഹോവ അബ്രാമിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി: നിൻറെ സന്തതിക്കു ഞാൻഈ ദേശം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. തനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായ യഹോവെക്കു അവൻഅവിടെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.

⁸അവൻഅവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള മലെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ബേഥേൽ പടിഞ്ഞാറും ഹായി കിഴക്കുമായി കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അവൻയഹോവെക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ആരാധിച്ചു.

⁹അബ്രാം പിന്നെയും തെക്കോട്ടു യാത്രചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

⁸But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

⁹Now God made Daniel find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.

¹⁰The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”

¹¹Then Daniel said to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

¹²“Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.

¹³Then let our faces be examined before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king’s delicacies; and as you see, deal with your servants.”

¹⁴So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days.

¹⁵At the end of ten days, their faces appeared fairer and they were fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate of the king’s delicacies.

¹⁶So the steward took away their delicacies and the wine that they were given to drink, and gave them vegetables.

¹⁷Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

¹⁸At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

¹⁹The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king.

²⁰In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.

²¹Daniel continued even to the first year of King Cyrus.

⁸എന്നാൽ രാജാവിന്റെ ഭോജനംകൊണ്ടും അവൻ കുടിക്കുന്ന വീഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടും തന്നെത്താൻ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു ദാനീയേൽ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിശ്ചയിച്ചു, തനിക്കു അശുദ്ധി ഭവിപ്പാൻ ഇടവരുത്തരുതെന്നു ഷണ്ഡാധിപനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

⁹ദൈവം ദാനീയേലിന്നു ഷണ്ഡാധിപന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ദയയും കരുണയും ലഭിപ്പാൻ ഇടവരുത്തി.

¹⁰ഷണ്ഡാധിപൻ ദാനീയേലിനോടു: നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭക്ഷണവും പാനീയവും നിയമിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു; അവൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുഖം നിങ്ങളുടെ സമപ്രായക്കാരായ ബാലന്മാരുടേതിനോടു ഒത്തുനോക്കിയാൽ മെലിഞ്ഞുകാണുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? അങ്ങനെയായാൽ നിങ്ങൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ എന്റെ തലെക്കു അപകടം വരുത്തും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹¹ദാനീയേലോ ഷണ്ഡാധിപൻ ദാനീയേലിന്നും ഹനന്യാവിന്നും മീശായേലിന്നും അസർയ്യാവിന്നും വിചാരകനായി നിയമിച്ചിരുന്ന മെൽസറിനോടു:

¹²അടിയങ്ങളെ പത്തു ദിവസം പരീക്ഷിച്ചുനോക്കിയാലും; അവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തിന്മാൻ ശാകപദാർത്ഥവും കുടിപ്പാൻ പച്ചവെള്ളവും തന്നു നോക്കട്ടെ.

¹³അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ഞങ്ങളുടെ മുഖവും രാജഭോജനം കഴിക്കുന്ന ബാലന്മാരുടെ മുഖവും തമ്മിൽ നീ ഒത്തു നോക്കുക; പിന്നെ കാണുന്നതുപോലെ അടിയങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁴അവൻ ഈ കാര്യത്തിൽ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു പത്തു ദിവസം അവരെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.

¹⁵പത്തു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അവരുടെ മുഖം രാജഭോജനം കഴിച്ചുവന്ന സകലബാലന്മാരുടേതിലും അഴകുള്ളതും അവർ മാംസപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവരും എന്നു കണ്ടു.

¹⁶അങ്ങനെ മെൽസർ അവരുടെ ഭോജനവും അവർ കുടിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വീഞ്ഞും നീക്കി അവർക്കും ശാകപദാർത്ഥം കൊടുത്തു.

¹⁷ഈ നാലു ബാലന്മാർക്കോ ദൈവം സകലവിദ്യയിലും ജ്ഞാനത്തിലും നീപുണതയും സമാർത്ഥ്യവും കൊടുത്തു; ദാനീയേൽ സകലദർശനങ്ങളെയും സ്യ്‍വപ്നങ്ങളെയും സംബന്ധിച്ചു വിവേകിയായിരുന്നു.

¹⁸അവരെ സന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന കാലം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഷണ്ഡാധിപൻ അവരെ നെബൂഖദ് നേസരിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

¹⁹രാജാവു അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചാറെ അവരിൽ എല്ലാവരിലും വെച്ചു ദാനീയേൽ, ഹനന്യാവു, മീശായേൽ, അസർയ്യാവു എന്നിവർക്കും തുല്യമായി ഒരുത്തനെയും കണ്ടില്ല; അവർ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷെക്കു നിന്നു.

²⁰രാജാവു അവരോടു ജ്ഞാനവിവേകസംബന്ധമായി ചോദിച്ചതിൽ ഒക്കെയും അവരെ തന്റെ രാജ്യത്തെല്ലാടവുമുള്ള സകല മന്ത്രവാദികളിലും ആഭിചാരകന്മാരിലും പത്തിരട്ടി വിശിഷ്ടന്മാരെന്നു കണ്ടു.

²¹ദാനീയേലോ കോരെശ്രാജാവിന്റെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടുവരെ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു.

¹But now Yahweh who created you, Jacob,

²When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,

³For I am Yahweh your God,

⁴Since you have been precious and honored in my sight,

⁵Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.

⁶I will tell the north, ‘Give them up!’

⁷everyone who is called by my name,

¹ഇപ്പോഴോ യാക്കോബേ, നിന്നെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചവനും, യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്നെ നിർമ്മിച്ചവനുമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വീണ്ടെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ പേർ ചൊല്ലി വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എനിക്കുള്ളവൻ തന്നേ.

²നീ വെള്ളത്തിൽകൂടി കടക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടി ഇരിക്കും; നീ നദികളിൽകൂടി കടക്കുമ്പോൾ അവ നിന്റെ മീതെ കവികയില്ല; നീ തീയിൽകൂടി നടന്നാൽ വെന്തു പോകയില്ല; അഗ്നിജ്വാല നിന്നെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കയുമില്ല.

³നിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനുമായ യഹോവ എന്ന ഞാൻ നിന്റെ രക്ഷകൻ ; നിന്റെ മറുവിലയായി ഞാൻ മിസ്രയീമിനെയും നിനക്കു പകരമായി കൂശിനെയും സെബയെയും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁴നീ എനിക്കു വില ഏറിയവനും മാന്യനും ആയി ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ചിരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പകരം മനുഷ്യരെയും നിന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം ജാതികളെയും കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

⁵ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു; നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ ഞാൻ കിഴക്കുനിന്നു വരുത്തുകയും പടിഞ്ഞാറു നിന്നു നിന്നെ ശേഖരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

⁶ഞാൻ വടക്കിനോടു: തരിക എന്നും തെക്കിനോടു: തടുത്തുവെക്കരുതെന്നും കല്പിക്കും; ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു എന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റത്തുനിന്നു എന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെയും

⁷എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചും എന്റെ മഹത്വത്തിന്നായി സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു നിർമ്മിച്ചു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയും ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഏവരെയും കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു ഞാൻ കല്പിക്കും.

¹²Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

¹³When they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying, that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

¹⁴All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

¹²അവർ യെരൂശലേമിന്നു സമീപത്തു ഒരു ശബ്ബത്ത് ദിവസത്തെ വഴിദൂരമുള്ള ഒലീവ് മലവിട്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

¹³അവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ പാർത്ത മാളികമുറിയിൽ കയറിപ്പോയി, പത്രൊസ്, യോഹന്നാൻ , യാക്കോബ്, അന്ത്രെയാസ്, ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്, തോമസ്, ബർത്തൊലൊമായി, മത്തായി, അൽഫായുടെ മകനായ യക്കോബ്, എരിവുകരനായ ശിമോൻ , യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകനായ യൂദാ ഇവർ എല്ലാവരും

¹⁴സ്ത്രീകളോടും യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മയായ മറിയയോടും അവന്റേ സഹോദരന്മാരോടും കൂടെ ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു പ്രാർത്ഥന കഴിച്ചു പോന്നു.

²⁸God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.

²⁹Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?

³⁰Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?

³¹But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.

¹If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

²If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing.

³If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.

⁴Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud,

⁵doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil;

⁶doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

⁷bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

⁸Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

⁹For we know in part and we prophesy in part;

¹⁰but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with.

²⁸ദൈവം സഭയിൽ ഒന്നാമതു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ, രണ്ടാമതു പ്രവാചകന്മാർ മൂന്നാമതു ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാർ ഇങ്ങനെ ഓരോരുത്തരെ നിയമിക്കയും പിന്നെ വീർയ്യപ്രവൃത്തികൾ, രോഗശാന്തികളുടെ വരം, സഹായം ചെയ്‍വാനുള്ള വരം, പരിപാലനവരം, വിവിധഭാഷാവരം എന്നിവ നലകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

²⁹എല്ലാവരും അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരോ? എല്ലാവരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരോ? എല്ലാവരും ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരോ? എല്ലാവരും വീർയ്യപ്രവൃത്തികൾ ചെയ്യുന്നവരോ?

³⁰എല്ലാവർക്കും രോഗശാന്തിക്കുള്ള വരംഉണ്ടോ? എല്ലാവരും അന്യഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നുവോ?

³¹എല്ലാവരും വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുന്നുവോ? ശ്രേഷ്ഠവരങ്ങളെ വാഞ്ഛിപ്പിൻ ; ഇനി അതിശ്രേഷ്ഠമായോരു മാർഗ്ഗം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു കാണിച്ചുതരാം.

¹ഞാൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെയും ദൂതന്മാരുടെയും ഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിച്ചാലും എനിക്കു സ്നേഹമില്ല എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ മുഴങ്ങുന്ന ചെമ്പോ ചിലമ്പുന്ന കൈത്താളമോ അത്രേ.

²എനിക്കു പ്രവചനവരം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു സകല മർമ്മങ്ങളും സകല ജ്ഞാനവും ഗ്രഹിച്ചാലും മലകളെ നീക്കുവാൻ തക്ക വിശ്വാസം ഉണ്ടായാലും സ്നേഹമില്ല എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ ഏതുമില്ല.

³എനിക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം അന്നദാനം ചെയ്താലും എന്റെ ശരീരം ചുടുവാൻ ഏല്പിച്ചാലും, സ്നേഹം ഇല്ല എങ്കിൽ എനിക്കു ഒരു പ്രയോജനവും ഇല്ല.

⁴സ്നേഹം ദീർഘമായി ക്ഷമിക്കയും ദയ കാണിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; സ്നേഹം സ്പർദ്ധിക്കുന്നില്ല.

⁵സ്നേഹം നിഗളിക്കുന്നില്ല. ചീർക്കുംന്നില്ല; അയോഗ്യമായി നടക്കുന്നില്ല സ്വാർത്ഥം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നില്ല, ദ്വേഷ്യപ്പെടുന്നില്ല, ദോഷം കണക്കിടുന്നില്ല;

⁶അനീതിയിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കാതെ സത്യത്തിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു:

⁷എല്ലാം പൊറുക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാം വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാം പ്രത്യാശിക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാം സഹിക്കുന്നു.

⁸സ്നേഹം ഒരുനാളും ഉതിർന്നുപോകയില്ല. പ്രവചനവരമോ, അതു നീങ്ങിപ്പോകും; ഭാഷാവരമോ, അതു നിന്നുപോകും; ജ്ഞാനമോ, അതു നീങ്ങിപ്പോകും.

⁹അംശമായി മാത്രം നാം അറിയുന്നു; അംശമായി മാത്രം പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു;

¹⁰പൂർണ്ണമായതു വരുമ്പോഴോ അംശമായതു നീങ്ങിപ്പോകും.

¹“For the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who was the master of a household, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

²When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

³He went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace.

⁴He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went their way.

⁵Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.

⁶About the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle. He said to them, ‘Why do you stand here all day idle?’

⁷“They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’

⁸“When evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.’

⁹“When those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius.

¹⁰When the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise each received a denarius.

¹¹When they received it, they murmured against the master of the household,

¹²saying, ‘These last have spent one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat!’

¹³“But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me for a denarius?

¹⁴Take that which is yours, and go your way. It is my desire to give to this last just as much as to you.

¹⁵Isn’t it lawful for me to do what I want to with what I own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?’

¹⁶So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen.”

¹“സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം തന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ വേലക്കാരെ വിളിച്ചാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പുലർച്ചെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ട വീട്ടുടയവനോടു സദൃശം.

²വേലക്കാരോടു അവൻ ദിവസത്തേക്കു ഔരോ വെള്ളിക്കാശു പറഞ്ഞൊത്തിട്ടു, അവരെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ അയച്ചു.

³മൂന്നാം മണിനേരത്തും പുറപ്പെട്ടു, മറ്റു ചിലർ ചന്തയിൽ മിനക്കെട്ടു നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു:

⁴നിങ്ങളും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ പോകുവിൻ ; ന്യായമായതു തരാം എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവർ പോയി.

⁵അവൻ ആറാം മണിനേരത്തും ഒമ്പതാം മണി നേരത്തും ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു.

⁶പതിനൊന്നാം മണി നേരത്തും ചെന്നു, മറ്റു ചിലർ നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു; നിങ്ങൾ ഇവിടെ പകൽ മുഴുവൻ മിനക്കെട്ടു നിലക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

⁷ഞങ്ങളെ ആരും കൂലിക്കു വിളിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടത്രേ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ: നിങ്ങളും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുവിൻ എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁸സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഉടയവൻ തന്റെ വിചാരകനോടു: വേലക്കാരെ വിളിച്ചു, പിമ്പന്മാർ തുടങ്ങി മുമ്പന്മാർവരെ അവർക്കും കൂലി കൊടുക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁹അങ്ങനെ പതിനൊന്നാം മണിനേരത്തു വന്നവർ ചെന്നു ഔരോ വെള്ളിക്കാശു വാങ്ങി.

¹⁰മുമ്പന്മാർ വന്നപ്പോൾ തങ്ങൾക്കു അധികം കിട്ടും എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചു; അവർക്കും ഔരോ വെള്ളിക്കാശു കിട്ടി.

¹¹അതു വാങ്ങീട്ടു അവർ വീട്ടുടയവന്റെ നേരെ പിറുപിറുത്തു:

¹²ഈ പിമ്പന്മാർ ഒരു മണിനേരം മാത്രം വേല ചെയ്തിട്ടും നീ അവരെ പകലത്തെ ഭാരവും വെയിലും സഹിച്ച ഞങ്ങളോടു സമമാക്കിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹³അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനോടു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: സ്നേഹിതാ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അന്യായം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല; നീ എന്നോടു ഒരു പണം പറഞ്ഞൊത്തില്ലയോ?

¹⁴നിന്റേതു വാങ്ങി പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; നിനക്കു തന്നതുപോലെ ഈ പിമ്പന്നും കൊടുപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു മനസ്സു.

¹⁵എനിക്കുള്ളതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു മനസ്സുപോലെ ചെയ്‍വാൻ എനിക്കു ന്യായമില്ലയോ? ഞാൻ നല്ലവൻ ആകകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ കണ്ണു കടിക്കുന്നുവോ?

¹⁶ഇങ്ങനെ പിമ്പന്മാർ മുമ്പൻ മാരും മുമ്പന്മാർ പിമ്പന്മാരും ആകും.”
