³¹His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.

³²A multitude was sitting around him, and they told him, “Behold, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters are outside looking for you.”

³³He answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”

³⁴Looking around at those who sat around him, he said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers!

³⁵For whoever does the will of God is my brother, my sister, and mother.”

³¹അനന്തരം അവന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും വന്നു പുറത്തു നിന്നു അവനെ വിളപ്പാൻ ആളയച്ചു.

³²പുരുഷാരം അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു; അവർ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും പുറത്തു നിന്നു നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവൻ അവരോടു:

³³എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും ആർ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു ചുറ്റിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവരെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു:

³⁴എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും ഇതാ.

³⁵ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ തന്നേ എന്റെ സഹോദരനും സഹോദരിയും അമ്മയും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁶“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.

¹⁷For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

¹⁸Be careful therefore how you hear. For whoever has, to him will be given; and whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he thinks he has.”

¹⁹His mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him for the crowd.

²⁰Some people told him, “Your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to see you.”

²¹But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”

¹⁶വിളകൂ കൊളുത്തീട്ടു ആരും അതിനെ പാത്രംകൊണ്ടു മൂടുകയോ കട്ടിൽക്കീഴെ വെക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതെ അകത്തു വരുന്നവർ വെളിച്ചം കാണേണ്ടതിന്നു തണ്ടിന്മേൽ അത്രേ വെക്കുന്നതു.

¹⁷വെളിപ്പെടാതെ ഗൂഢമായതു ഒന്നുമില്ല; പ്രസിദ്ധമായി വെളിച്ചത്തു വരാതെ മറവായിരിക്കുന്നതും ഒന്നുമില്ല.

¹⁸ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ കേൾക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ . ഉള്ളവന്നു കിട്ടും; ഇല്ലാത്തവനോടോ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു തോന്നുന്നതും കൂടെ എടുത്തുകളയും.

¹⁹അവന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും

²⁰അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, പുരുഷാരം നിമിത്തം അവനോടു അടുപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. നിന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും നിന്നെ കാണ്മാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പുറത്തു നിലക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചിലർ അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

²¹അവരോടു അവൻ : എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും ദൈവ വചനം കേട്ടു ചെയ്യുന്നവരത്രേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁶Today Yahweh your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances. You shall therefore keep and do them with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁷You have declared today that Yahweh is your God, and that you would walk in his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, and his ordinances, and listen to his voice.

¹⁸Yahweh has declared today that you are a people for his own possession, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments.

¹⁹He will make you high above all nations that he has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to Yahweh your God, as he has spoken.

¹Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the commandment which I command you today.

²It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and coat them with plaster.

³You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have passed over, that you may go in to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

⁴It shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall coat them with plaster.

⁵There you shall build an altar to Yahweh your God, an altar of stones. You shall not use any iron tool on them.

⁶You shall build Yahweh your God’s altar of uncut stones. You shall offer burnt offerings on it to Yahweh your God.

⁷You shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there. You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God.

⁸You shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.”

⁹Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying, “Be silent and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of Yahweh your God.

¹⁰You shall therefore obey Yahweh your God’s voice, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today.”

¹⁶ഈ ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ആചരിപ്പാൻ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; നീ അവയെ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടുംകൂടെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കേണം.

¹⁷യഹോവ നിനക്കു ദൈവമായിരിക്കുമെന്നും നീ അവന്റെ വഴികളിൽ നടന്നു അവന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും കല്പനകളും വിധികളും പ്രമാണിച്ചു അവന്റെ വചനം അനുസരിക്കേണമെന്നും നീ ഇന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁸യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നീ അവന്നു സ്വന്തജനമായി അവന്റെ സകലകല്പനകളും പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കുമെന്നും

¹⁹താൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ സകലജാതികൾക്കും മീതെ നിന്നെ പുകഴ്ചെക്കും കീർത്തിക്കും മാനത്തിന്നുമായി ഉന്നതമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു താൻ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു വിശുദ്ധജനമായിരിക്കുമെന്നും ഇന്നു നിന്റെ വാമൊഴി വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹മോശെ യിസ്രായേൽ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ജനത്തോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്ന സകല കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണിപ്പിൻ .

²നിങ്ങൾ യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു എത്തുന്ന ദിവസം നീ വലിയ കല്ലുകൾ നാട്ടി അവേക്കു കുമ്മായം തേക്കേണം:

³നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശമായി പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ദേശത്തു ചെല്ലുവാൻ കടന്നശേഷം നീ ഈ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം അവയിൽ എഴുതേണം.

⁴ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നിട്ടു ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്ന ഈ കല്ലുകൾ ഏബാൽ പർവ്വത്തിൽ നാട്ടുകയും അവേക്കു കുമ്മായം തേക്കുകയും വേണം.

⁵അവിടെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിയേണം; അതിന്മേൽ ഇരിമ്പു തൊടുവിക്കരുതു.

⁶ചെത്താത്ത കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠം പണിയേണം; അതിന്മേൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിക്കേണം.

⁷സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അർപ്പിച്ചു അവിടെവെച്ചു തിന്നുകയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കയും വേണം;

⁸ആ കല്ലുകളിൽ ഈ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നല്ല തെളിവായി എഴുതേണം.

⁹മോശെയും ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാരും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും യിസ്രായേലേ, മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു കേൾക്ക; ഇന്നു നീ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ജനമായി തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁰ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചു, ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്ന അവന്റെ കല്പനകളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും ആചരിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and childless.

³Yahweh’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive and bear a son.

⁴Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing;

⁵for, behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

⁶Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name;

⁷but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink. Don’t eat any unclean thing, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’ ”

⁸Then Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you sent come again to us, and teach us what we should do to the child who shall be born.”

⁹God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field; but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.

¹⁰The woman hurried and ran, and told her husband, saying to him, “Behold, the man who came to me that day has appeared to me.”

¹¹Manoah arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?”

¹²Manoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”

¹³Yahweh’s angel said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.

¹⁴She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. Let her observe all that I commanded her.”

²എന്നാൽ ദാൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ ഉള്ളവനായി സോരാഥ്യനായ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു മാനോഹ എന്നു പേർ; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ മച്ചിയായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു പ്രസവിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

³ആ സ്ത്രീക്കു യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ മച്ചിയല്ലോ, പ്രസവിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; എങ്കിലും നീ ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും.

⁴ആകയാൽ നീ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു കൊൾക, വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കരുതു; അശുദ്ധമായതൊന്നും തിന്നുകയുമരുതു.

⁵നീ ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്റെ തലയിൽ ക്ഷൌരക്കത്തി തൊടുവിക്കരുതു; ബാലൻ ഗർഭംമുതൽ ദൈവത്തിന്നു നാസീരായിരിക്കും; അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങും.

⁶സ്ത്രീ ചെന്നു ഭർത്താവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷൻ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; അവന്റെ ആകൃതി ഒരു ദൈവദൂതന്റെ ആകൃതിപോലെ അതിഭയങ്കരം ആയിരുന്നു; അവൻ എവിടെനിന്നെന്നു ഞാൻ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചില്ല; തന്റെ പേർ അവൻ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതും ഇല്ല.

⁷അവൻ എന്നോടു നീ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; ആകയാൽ നീ വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കരുതു; അശുദ്ധമായതൊന്നും തിന്നുകയും അരുതു; ബാലൻ ഗർഭംമുതൽ ജീവപര്യന്തം ദൈവത്തിന്നു നാസീരായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁸മാനോഹ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു: കർത്താവേ, നീ അയച്ച ദൈവപുരുഷൻ വീണ്ടും ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, ജനിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന ബാലന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁹ദൈവം മാനോഹയുടെ പ്രാർത്ഥന കേട്ടു; ദൈവദൂതൻ വീണ്ടും അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; അവൾ വയലിൽ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു; അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവു മാനോഹ കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

¹⁰ഉടനെ സ്ത്രീ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ഭർത്താവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു; അന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന ആൾ ഇതാ, എനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹¹മാനോഹ ഉടനെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഭാര്യയോടുകൂടെ ചെന്നു ആ പുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തി; ഈ സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിച്ച ആൾ നീയോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു; ഞാൻ തന്നേ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

¹²മാനോഹ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ വചനം നിവൃത്തിയാകുമ്പോൾ ബാലന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ ആചരിക്കേണം? അവനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹³യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതൻ മാനോഹയോടു: ഞാൻ സ്ത്രീയോടു പറഞ്ഞതൊക്കെയും അവൾ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.

¹⁴മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയിൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന യാതൊന്നും അവൾ തിന്നരുതു; വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കരുതു; അശുദ്ധമായതൊന്നും തിന്നുകയും അരുതു; ഞാൻ അവളോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും അവൾ ആചരിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁵Look down from heaven,

¹⁶For you are our Father,

¹⁷O Yahweh, why do you make us wander from your ways,

¹⁸Your holy people possessed it but a little while.

¹⁹We have become like those over whom you never ruled,

¹Oh that you would tear the heavens,

²as when fire kindles the brushwood,

³When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for,

⁴For from of old men have not heard,

⁵You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness,

¹⁵സ്വർ‍ഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു നോക്കി, വിശുദ്ധിയും മഹത്വവുമുള്ള നിന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു കടാക്ഷിക്കേണമേ! നിന്റെ തീക്ഷണതയും വീർയപ്രവൃത്തികളും എവിടെ? നിന്റെ മനസ്സലിവും കരുണയും എന്നോടു കാണിക്കാതവണ്ണം നീ അടക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു

¹⁶നീയല്ലോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവു; അബ്രാഹാം ഞങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്നില്ല; യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ തിരിയുന്നതുമില്ല; നീയോ യഹോവേ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവാകുന്നു; യുഗാരംഭംമുതൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടേടുപ്പുകാരൻ എന്നാകുന്നു നിന്റെ നാമം

¹⁷യഹോവേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ വഴി വിട്ടു തെറ്റുമാറാക്കുന്നതും നിന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടാതവണ്ണം ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കഠിനമാക്കുന്നതും എൻ തു? നിന്റെ അവകാശഗോത്രങ്ങളായ നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ‍നിമിത്തം മടങ്ങിവരേണമേ

¹⁸നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധജനത്തിന്നു അല്പകാലത്തേക്കു മാത്രം കൈവശമായ ശേഷം നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമൻ ദിരത്തെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വൈരികൾ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു

¹⁹ഞങ്ങൾ ഇതാ, നീ ഒരിക്കലും വാണിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരും നിന്റെ നാമം വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരും എന്നപോലെ ആയിത്തീർ‍ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു

¹അയ്യോ, ജാതികൾ തിരുമുൻ പിൽ വിറെക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ നാമത്തെ നിന്റെ വൈരികൾക്കു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുവാൻ തീയിൽ ചുള്ളി കത്തുന്നതു പോലെയും

²തീ കൊണ്ടു വെള്ളം തിളക്കുന്നതു പോലെയും മലകൾ നിന്റെ മുൻ പിൽ ഉരുകിപ്പോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം നീ ആകാശം കീറി ഇറങ്ങിവന്നെങ്കിൽ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു!

³ഞങ്ങൾ വിചാരിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഭയങ്കരകാർയങ്ങളെ നീ പ്രവർ‍ത്തിച്ചപ്പോൾ നീ ഇറങ്ങിവരികയും മലകൾ തിരുമുൻ പിൽ ഉരുകിപ്പോകയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ

⁴നീയല്ലാതെ ഒരു ദൈവം തന്നേ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു വേണ്ടി പ്രവർ‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതു പണ്ടുമുതൽ ആരും കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല, ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടില്ല, കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കണ്ടിട്ടുമില്ല

⁵സന്തോഷിച്ചു നീതി പ്രവർ‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവരെ നീ എതിരേലക്കുന്നു; അവർ‍ നിന്റെ വഴികളിൽ നിന്നെ ഔർ‍ക്കുന്നു; നീ കോപിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ പാപത്തിൽ അകപ്പെട്ടു; ഇതിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ബഹുകാലം കഴിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രക്ഷ ഉണ്ടാകുമോ?

²Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.

³Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

⁴Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.

⁵You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and no sin is in him.

⁶Whoever remains in him doesn’t sin. Whoever sins hasn’t seen him and doesn’t know him.

⁷Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

⁸He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil.

⁹Whoever is born of God doesn’t commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he can’t sin, because he is born of God.

¹⁰In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn’t do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn’t love his brother.

¹¹For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another—

¹²unlike Cain, who was of the evil one and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

¹³Don’t be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.

¹⁴We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn’t love his brother remains in death.

¹⁵Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.

¹⁶By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

¹⁷But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?

³അവനിൽ ഈ പ്രത്യാശയുള്ളവൻ എല്ലാം അവൻ നിൎമ്മലനായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നെത്തന്നേ നിൎമ്മലീകരിക്കുന്നു.

⁴പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം അധൎമ്മവും ചെയ്യുന്നു; പാപം അധൎമ്മം തന്നേ.

⁵പാപങ്ങളെ നീക്കുവാൻ അവൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു; അവനിൽ പാപം ഇല്ല.

⁶അവനിൽ വസിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരും പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ ആരും അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല, അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ല.

⁷കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ആരും നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കരുതു; അവൻ നീതിമാനായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നീതി ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ നീതിമാൻ ആകുന്നു.

⁸പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ പിശാചിന്റെ മകൻ ആകുന്നു. പിശാചു ആദിമുതൽ പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ. പിശാചിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ അഴിപ്പാൻ തന്നേ ദൈവപുത്രൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

⁹ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്നു ജനിച്ചവൻ ആരും പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ വിത്തു അവനിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്നു ജനിച്ചതിനാൽ അവന്നു പാപം ചെയ്‍വാൻ കഴികയുമില്ല.

¹⁰ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾ ആരെന്നും പിശാചിന്റെ മക്കൾ ആരെന്നും ഇതിനാൽ തെളിയുന്നു; നീതി പ്രവൎത്തിക്കാത്തവൻ ആരും സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവനും ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ളവനല്ല.

¹¹നിങ്ങൾ ആദിമുതൽ കേട്ട ദൂതു: നാം അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നു.

¹²കയീൻ ദുഷ്ടനിൽനിന്നുള്ളവനായി സഹോദരനെ കൊന്നതുപോലെ അല്ല; അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ സംഗതി എന്തു? തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദോഷവും സഹോദരന്റേതു നീതിയുമുള്ളതാകകൊണ്ടത്രേ.

¹³സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ലോകം നിങ്ങളെ പകെക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെടരുതു.

¹⁴നാം മരണം വിട്ടു ജീവനിൽ കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സഹോദരന്മാരെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ നമുക്കു അറിയാം. സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവൻ മരണത്തിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁵സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം കുലപാതകൻ ആകുന്നു. യാതൊരു കുലപാതകന്നും നിത്യജീവൻ ഉള്ളിൽ വസിച്ചിരിപ്പില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു.

¹⁶അവൻ നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ വെച്ചുകൊടുത്തതിനാൽ നാം സ്നേഹം എന്തു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നാമും സഹോദരന്മാൎക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാണനെ വെച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

¹⁷എന്നാൽ ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ വസ്തുവകയുള്ളവൻ ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനോടു മനസ്സലിവു കാണിക്കാഞ്ഞാൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്നേഹം അവനിൽ എങ്ങനെ വസിക്കും?

¹³For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,

¹⁴saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”

¹⁵Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

¹⁶For men indeed swear by a greater one, and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.

¹⁷In this way God, being determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath,

¹⁸that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.

¹⁹This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil,

²⁰where as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

¹For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

²to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, “king of righteousness”, and then also “king of Salem”, which means “king of peace”,

³without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.

⁴Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth out of the best plunder.

⁵They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,

⁶but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

⁷But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.

⁸Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.

⁹We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,

¹⁰for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.

¹³ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ തന്നെക്കാൾ വലിയവനെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടു തന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ സത്യ ചെയ്തു:

¹⁴“ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയും നിന്നെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

¹⁵അങ്ങനെ അവൻ ദീർഘക്ഷമയൊടിരുന്നു വാഗ്ദത്തവിഷയം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

¹⁶തങ്ങളെക്കാൾ വലിയവനെക്കൊണ്ടല്ലോ മനുഷ്യർ സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നതു; ആണ അവർക്കും ഉറപ്പിന്നായി സകലവാദത്തിന്റെയും തീർച്ചയാകുന്നു.

¹⁷അതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിന്റെ അവകാശികൾക്കു തന്റെ ആലോചന മാറാത്തതു എന്നു അധികം സ്പഷ്ടമായി കാണിപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചു ഒരു ആണയാലും ഉറപ്പുകൊടുത്തു.

¹⁸അങ്ങനെ നമ്മുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചിട്ടുള്ള പ്രത്യാശ പിടിച്ചുകൊൾവാൻ ശരണത്തിന്നായി ഔടിവന്ന നാം മാറിപ്പോകാത്തതും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോഷകുപറവാൻ കഴിയാത്തതുമായ രണ്ടു കാര്യങ്ങളാൽ ശക്തിയുള്ള പ്രബോധനം പ്രാപിപ്പാൻ ഇടവരുന്നു.

¹⁹ആ പ്രത്യാശ നമുക്കു ആത്മാവിന്റെ ഒരു നങ്കൂരം തന്നേ; അതു നിശ്ചയവും സ്ഥിരവും തിരശ്ശീലെക്കകത്തേക്കു കടക്കുന്നതുമാകുന്നു.

²⁰അവിടേക്കു യേശു മൽക്കീസേദെക്കിന്റെ ക്രമപ്രകാരം എന്നേക്കും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹ശാലേംരാജാവും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുരോഹിതനുമായ ഈ മൽക്കീസേദെക്ക രാജാക്കന്മാരെ ജയിച്ചു

²മടങ്ങിവരുന്ന അബ്രാഹാമിനെ എതിരേറ്റു അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അബ്രാഹാം അവന്നു സകലത്തിലും പത്തിലൊന്നു കൊടുത്തു. അവന്റെ പേരിന്നു ആദ്യം നീതിയുടെ രാജാവെന്നും പിന്നെ ശാലേംരാജാവു എന്നുവെച്ചാൽ സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ രാജാവു എന്നും അർത്ഥം.

³അവന്നു പിതാവില്ല, മാതാവില്ല, വംശാവലിയില്ല, ജീവാരംഭവും ജീവാവസാനവും ഇല്ല; അവൻ ദൈവപുത്രന്നു തുല്യനായി എന്നേക്കും പുരോഹിതനായിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁴ഇവൻ എത്ര മഹാൻ എന്നു നോക്കുവിൻ ; ഗോത്രപിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാം കൂടെയും അവന്നു കൊള്ളയുടെ വിശേഷസാധനങ്ങളിൽ പത്തിലൊന്നു കൊടുത്തുവല്ലോ.

⁵ലേവിപുത്രന്മാരിൽ പൗരോഹിത്യം ഭലിക്കുന്നവർക്കും ന്യായപ്രാമാണപ്രകാരം ജനത്തോടു ദശാംശം വാങ്ങുവാൻ കല്പന ഉണ്ടു; അതു അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ കടിപ്രദേശത്തിൽനിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ച സഹോദരന്മാരോടു ആകുന്നു വാങ്ങുന്നതു.

⁶എന്നാൽ അവരുടെ വംശാവലിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടാത്തവൻ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു തന്നേ ദശാംശം വാങ്ങിയും വാഗ്ദത്തങ്ങൾ പ്രാപിച്ചവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁷ഉയർന്നവൻ താണവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു തർക്കം ഏതുമില്ലല്ലോ.

⁸ഇവിടെ മരിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ ദശാംശം വാങ്ങുന്നു; അവിടെയോ ജീവിക്കുന്നു എന്ന സാക്ഷ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചവൻ തന്നേ.

⁹ദശാംശം വാങ്ങുന്ന ലേവിയും അബ്രാഹാംമുഖാന്തരം ദശാംശം കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഒരു വിധത്തിൽ പറയാം.

¹⁰അവന്റെ പിതാവിനെ മൽക്കീസേദെൿ എതിരേറ്റപ്പോൾ ലേവി അവന്റെ കടിപ്രദേശത്തു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

²⁶Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

²⁷to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary.

²⁸Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”

²⁹But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.

³⁰The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

³¹Behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and shall name him ‘Jesus.’

³²He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,

³³and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”

³⁴Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?”

³⁵The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.

³⁶Behold, Elizabeth your relative also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.

³⁷For nothing spoken by God is impossible.”

³⁸Mary said, “Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.”

²⁶ആറാം മാസത്തിൽ ദൈവം ഗബ്രീയേൽദൂതനെ നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗലീലപട്ടണത്തിൽ,

²⁷ദാവീദ് ഗൃഹത്തിലുള്ള യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു പുരുഷന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേർ മറിയ എന്നു ആയിരുന്നു.

²⁸ദൂതൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്തു ചെന്നു: കൃപലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കർത്താവു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁹അവൾ ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു: ഇതു എന്തൊരു വന്ദനം എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.

³⁰ദൂതൻ അവളോടു: മറിയയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.

³¹നീ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കേണം.

³²അവൻ വലിയവൻ ആകും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; കർത്താവായ ദൈവം അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം അവന്നു കൊടുക്കും

³³അവൻ യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നു അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁴മറിയ ദൂതനോടു: ഞാൻ പുരുഷനെ അറിയായ്കയാൽ ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁵അതിന്നു ദൂതൻ : പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിന്റെ മേൽ വരും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ ശക്തി നിന്റെ മേൽ നിഴലിടും; ആകയാൽ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധപ്രജ ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.

³⁶നിന്റെ ചാർച്ചക്കാരത്തി എലീശബെത്തും വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ ഒരു മകനെ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മച്ചി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നവൾക്കു ഇതു ആറാം മാസം.

³⁷ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാര്യവും അസാദ്ധ്യമല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁸അതിന്നു മറിയ: ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കർത്താവിന്റെ ദാസി; നിന്റെ വാക്കു പോലെ എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദൂതൻ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
