¹⁰The disciples came, and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

¹¹He answered them, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them.

¹²For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he has.

¹³Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they don’t see, and hearing, they don’t hear, neither do they understand.

¹⁴In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says,

¹⁵for this people’s heart has grown callous,

¹⁶“But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.

¹⁷For most certainly I tell you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.

¹⁸“Hear, then, the parable of the farmer.

¹⁹When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the roadside.

²⁰What was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word and immediately with joy receives it;

²¹yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

²²What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

²³What was sown on the good ground, this is he who hears the word and understands it, who most certainly bears fruit and produces, some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.”

¹⁰പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അടുക്കെ വന്നു: അവരോടു ഉപമകളായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹¹അവൻ അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: “സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ മർമ്മങ്ങളെ അറിവാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർക്കോ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

¹²ഉള്ളവന്നു കൊടുക്കും; അവന്നു സമൃദ്ധിയുണ്ടാകും; ഇല്ലാത്തവനോടോ അവന്നുള്ളതും കൂടെ എടുത്തുകളയും.

¹³അതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ കണ്ടിട്ടു കാണാതെയും കേട്ടിട്ടു കേൾക്കാതെയും ഗ്രഹിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ ഉപമകളായി അവരോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁴നിങ്ങൾ ചെവിയാൽ കേൾക്കും ഗ്രഹിക്കയില്ലതാനും; കണ്ണാൽ കാണും ദർശിക്കയില്ലതാനും; ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം തടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ ചെവികൊണ്ടു മന്ദമായി കേൾക്കുന്നു; കണ്ണു അടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ കണ്ണു കാണാതെയും ചെവി കേൾക്കാതെയും ഹൃദയം കൊണ്ടു ഗ്രഹിക്കാതെയും തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ളാതെയും ഞാൻ അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ

¹⁵എന്നു യെശയ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞ പ്രവാചകത്തിന്നു അവരിൽ നിവൃത്തിവരുന്നു.

¹⁶എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി കേൾക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും ഭാഗ്യമുള്ളവ.

¹⁷ഏറിയ പ്രവാചകന്മാരും നീതിമാന്മാരും നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നതു കാണ്മാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടു കണ്ടില്ല; നിങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കുന്നതു കേൾപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടും കേട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

¹⁸എന്നാൽ വിതെക്കുന്നവന്റെ ഉപമ കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ .

¹⁹ഒരുത്തൻ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഗ്രഹിക്കാഞ്ഞാൽ ദുഷ്ടൻ വന്നു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതു എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു; ഇതത്രെ വഴിയരികെ വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതു.

²⁰പാറസ്ഥലത്തു വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ, ഒരുത്തൻ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഉടനെ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ കൈകൊള്ളുന്നതു ആകുന്നു എങ്കിലും വേരില്ലാതിരിക്കയാൽ അവൻ ക്ഷണികനത്രേ.

²¹വചനംനിമിത്തം ഞെരുക്കമോ ഉപദ്രവമോ നേരിട്ടാൽ അവൻ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഇടറിപ്പോകുന്നു.

²²മുള്ളിന്നിടയിൽ വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ, ഒരുത്തൻ വചനം കേൾക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ ചിന്തയും ധനത്തിന്റെ വഞ്ചനയും വചനത്തെ ഞെരുക്കീട്ടു നിഷ്ഫലനായി തീരുന്നതാകുന്നു.

²³നല്ല നിലത്തു വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ ഒരുത്തൻ വചനം കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു ആകുന്നു അതു വിളഞ്ഞു നൂറും അറുപതും മുപ്പതും മേനി നലകുന്നു.”

¹Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.

²He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,

³“Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow.

⁴As he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and devoured it.

⁵Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

⁶When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

⁷Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

⁸Others fell into the good ground and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some produced thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.”

⁹He said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

¹⁰When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.

¹¹He said to them, “To you is given the mystery of God’s Kingdom, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,

¹²that ‘seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand, lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.’ ”

¹³He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?

¹⁴The farmer sows the word.

¹⁵The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

¹⁶These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.

¹⁷They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.

¹⁸Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,

¹⁹and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

²⁰Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.”

²¹He said to them, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a stand?

²²For there is nothing hidden except that it should be made known, neither was anything made secret but that it should come to light.

²³If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.”

¹അവൻ പിന്നെയും കടൽക്കരെവെച്ചു ഉപദേശിപ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങി. അപ്പോൾ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പുരുഷാരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു കൂടുകകൊണ്ടു അവൻ പടകിൽ കയറി കടലിൽ ഇരുന്നു; പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും കടലരികെ കരയിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.

²അവൻ ഉപമകളാൽ അവരെ പലതും ഉപദേശിച്ചു, ഉപദേശത്തിൽ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു:

³കേൾപ്പിൻ ; വിതെക്കുന്നവൻ വിതെപ്പാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

⁴വിതെക്കുമ്പോൾ ചിലതു വഴിയരികെ വിണു; പറവകൾ വന്നു അതു തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

⁵മറ്റു ചിലതു പാറസ്ഥലത്തു ഏറെ മണ്ണില്ലാത്തേടത്തു വീണു; മണ്ണിന്നു താഴ്ച ഇല്ലായ്കയാൽ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ മുളെച്ചുവന്നു.

⁶സൂര്യൻ ഉദിച്ചാറെ ചൂടു തട്ടി, വേരില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

⁷മറ്റു ചിലതു മുള്ളിന്നിടയിൽ വീണു; മുള്ളു മുളെച്ചു വളർന്നു അതിനെ ഞെരുക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അതു വിളഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.

⁸മറ്റു ചിലതു നല്ലമണ്ണിൽ വീണിട്ടു മുളെച്ചു വളർന്നു ഫലം കൊടുത്തു; മുപ്പതും അറുപതും നൂറും മേനി വിളഞ്ഞു.

⁹കേൾപ്പാൻ ചെവി ഉള്ളവൻ കേൾക്കട്ടെ എന്നും അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁰അനന്തരം അവൻ തനിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവൻ പന്തിരുവരുമായി ആ ഉപമകളെക്കുറിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹¹അവരോടു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ മർമ്മം നിങ്ങൾക്കു നല്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; പുറത്തുള്ളവർക്കോ സകലവും ഉപമകളാൽ ലഭിക്കുന്നു.

¹²അവർ മനംതിരിയാതെയും അവരോടു ക്ഷമിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവർ കണ്ടിട്ടും അറിയാതിരിപ്പാനും കേട്ടിട്ടും ഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിപ്പാനും സംഗതിവരും.

¹³പിന്നെ അവൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഈ ഉപമ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? പിന്നെ മറ്റെ ഉപമകൾ ഒക്കെയും എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കും?

¹⁴വിതെക്കുന്നവൻ വചനം വിതെക്കുന്നു.

¹⁵വചനം വിതച്ചിട്ടു വഴിയരികെ വീണതു, കേട്ട ഉടനെ സാത്താൻ വന്നു ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ട വചനം എടുത്തുകളയുന്നതാകുന്നു.

¹⁶അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ പാറസ്ഥലത്തു വിതെച്ചതു വചനം കേട്ട ഉടനെ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നവർ;

¹⁷എങ്കിലും അവർ ഉള്ളിൽ വേരില്ലാതെ ക്ഷണികൻ മാർ ആകുന്നു; വചനം നിമിത്തം ഉപദ്രവമോ പീഡയോ ഉണ്ടായാൽ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഇടറിപ്പോകുന്നു.

¹⁸മുള്ളിന്നിടയിൽ വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ടു

¹⁹ഇഹലോകത്തിന്റെ ചിന്തകളും ധനത്തിന്റെ വഞ്ചനയും മറ്റുവിഷയ മോഹങ്ങളും അകത്തു കടന്നു, വചനത്തെ ഞെരുക്കി നഷ്ഫലമാക്കി തീർക്കുംന്നതാകുന്നു.

²⁰നല്ലമണ്ണിൽ വിതെക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ വചനം കേൾക്കയും അംഗീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർ തന്നേ; അവർ മുപ്പതും അറുപതും നൂറും മേനി വിളയുന്നു.

²¹പിന്നെ അവൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: വിളകൂ കത്തിച്ചു പറയിൻ കീഴിലോ കട്ടീൽക്കീഴിലോ വെക്കുമാറുണ്ടോ? വിളകൂതണ്ടിന്മേലല്ലയോ വെക്കുന്നതു?

²²വെളിപ്പെടുവാനുള്ളതല്ലാതെ ഗൂഢമായതു ഒന്നും ഇല്ല; വെളിച്ചത്തു വരുവാനുള്ളതല്ലാതെ മറവായതു ഒന്നും ഇല്ല.

²³കേൾപ്പാൻ ചെവി ഉള്ളവൻ കേൾക്കട്ടെ.

⁹Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

¹⁰Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

¹¹Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

¹²He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

¹³Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what should I tell them?”

¹⁴God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

¹⁵God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.

⁹യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ നിലവിളി എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; മിസ്രയീമ്യർ അവരെ ഞെരുക്കുന്ന ഞെരുക്കവും ഞാൻ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁰ആകയാൽ വരിക; നീ എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഫറവോന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കും.

¹¹മോശെ ദൈവത്തോടു: ഫറവോന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുവാനും യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിപ്പാനും ഞാൻ എന്തു മാത്രമുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹²അതിന്നു അവൻ : ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; നീ ജനത്തെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വരുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ഈ പർവ്വതത്തിങ്കൽ ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിക്കുമെന്നുള്ളതു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അയച്ചതിന്നു അടയാളം ആകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

¹³മോശെ ദൈവത്തോടു: ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവം എന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുമ്പോൾ: അവന്റെ നാമം എന്തെന്നു അവർ എന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ അവരോടു എന്തു പറയേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹⁵ദൈവം പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തന്നാൽ: നീ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു ഇപ്രകാരം പറയേണം: അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവുമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇതു എന്നേക്കും എന്റെ നാമവും തലമുറ തലമുറയായി എന്റെ ജ്ഞാപകവും ആകുന്നു.

²¹Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: “Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat.

²²For I didn’t speak to your fathers or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices;

²³but this thing I commanded them, saying, ‘Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. Walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’

²⁴But they didn’t listen or turn their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

²⁵Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.

²¹യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളോടു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും കൂട്ടി മാംസം തിന്നുവിൻ .

²⁴എന്നാൽ അവർ അനുസരിക്കയോ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതെ തങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ആലോചനയിലും ദുശ്ശാഠ്യത്തിലും നടന്നു മുമ്പോട്ടല്ല പുറകോട്ടു തന്നേ പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു.

²⁵നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാൻ അതികാലത്തും ഇടവിടാതെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരായ എന്റെ സകലദാസന്മാരെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചുവന്നു.

¹Awake, awake! Put on your strength, Zion.

²Shake yourself from the dust!

³For Yahweh says, “You were sold for nothing;

⁴For the Lord Yahweh says:

⁵“Now therefore, what do I do here,” says Yahweh,

⁶Therefore my people shall know my name.

¹സീയോനേ, ഉണരുക, ഉണരുക, നിന്റെ ബലം ധരിച്ചുകൊൾക; വിശുദ്ധനഗരമായ യെരൂശലേമേ, നിന്റെ അലങ്കാരവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊൾക; ഇനിമേലാൽ അഗ്രചർ‍മ്മിയും അശുദ്ധനും നിന്നിലേക്കു വരികയില്ല

⁶അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ ജനം എന്റെ നാമത്തെ അറിയും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ ‍, ഞാൻ തന്നെയാകുന്നു പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നവൻ എന്നു അവർ‍ അന്നു അറിയും

⁴Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

⁵You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

⁶Because it is contained in Scripture,

⁷For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient,

⁸and,

⁹But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

¹⁰In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

⁴മനുഷ്യർ തള്ളിയതെങ്കിലും ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും മാന്യവുമായ ജീവനുള്ള കല്ലായ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിട്ടു

⁵നിങ്ങളും ജീവനുള്ള കല്ലുകൾ എന്നപോലെ ആത്മികഗൃഹമായി യേശുക്രിസ്തുമുഖാന്തരം ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദമുള്ള ആത്മികയാഗം കഴിപ്പാന്തക്ക വിശുദ്ധപുരോഹിതവർഗ്ഗമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു പണിയപ്പെടുന്നു.

⁶“ഞാൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും മാന്യവുമായോരു മൂലക്കല്ലു സീയോനിൽ ഇടുന്നു; അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവൻ ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകയില്ല” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ.

⁷വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങൾക്കു ആ മാന്യതയുണ്ടു; വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവർക്കോ “വീടു പണിയുന്നവർ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞ കല്ലു തന്നേ മൂലക്കല്ലും ഇടർച്ചക്കല്ലും തടങ്ങൽ പാറയുമായിത്തീർന്നു.”

⁸അവർ വചനം അനുസരിക്കായ്കയാൽ ഇടറിപ്പോകുന്നു; അതിന്നു അവരെ വെച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁹നിങ്ങളോ അന്ധകാരത്തിൽനിന്നു തന്റെ അത്ഭുത പ്രകാശത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചവന്റെ സൽഗുണങ്ങളെ ഘോഷിപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ജാതിയും രാജകീയപുരോഹിതവർഗ്ഗവും വിശുദ്ധവംശവും സ്വന്തജനവും ആകുന്നു.

¹⁰മുമ്പെ നിങ്ങൾ ജനമല്ലാത്തവർ; ഇപ്പോഴോ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ജനം; കരുണ ലഭിക്കാത്തവർ; ഇപ്പോഴോ കരുണ ലഭിച്ചവർ തന്നേ.

¹⁴Having then a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let’s hold tightly to our confession.

¹⁵For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

¹⁶Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.

¹For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

²The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.

³Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.

⁴Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.

⁵So also Christ didn’t glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him,

¹⁴ആകയാൽ ദൈവപുത്രനായ യേശു ആകാശത്തിൽകൂടി കടന്നുപോയോരു ശ്രേഷ്ഠമഹാപുരോഹിതനായി നമുക്കു ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു നാം നമ്മുടെ സ്വീകാരം മറുകെപ്പിടിച്ചുകൊൾക.

¹⁵നമുക്കുള്ള മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ നമ്മുടെ ബലഹീനതകളിൽ സഹതാപം കാണിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്തവനല്ല; പാപം ഒഴികെ സർവ്വത്തിലും നമുക്കു തുല്യമായി പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനത്രേ നമുക്കുള്ളതു.

¹⁶അതുകൊണ്ടു കരുണ ലഭിപ്പാനും തത്സമയത്തു സഹായത്തിന്നുള്ള കൃപ പ്രാപിപ്പാനുമായി നാം ധൈർയ്യത്തോടെ കൃാപസനത്തിന്നു അടുത്തു ചെല്ലുക.

¹മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നു എടുക്കുന്ന ഏതു മഹാപുരോഹിതനും പാപങ്ങൾക്കായി വഴിപാടും യാഗവും അർപ്പിപ്പാൻ ദൈവകാർയ്യത്തിൽ മനുഷ്യർക്കും വേണ്ടി നിയമിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

²താനും ബലഹീനത പൂണ്ടവനാകയാൽ അറിവില്ലാത്തവരോടും വഴി തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നവരോടും സഹതാപം കാണിപ്പാൻ കഴിയുന്നവനും

³ബലഹീനതനിമിത്തം ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി എന്നപോലെ തനിക്കു വേണ്ടിയും പാപയാഗം അർപ്പിക്കേണ്ടിയവനും ആകുന്നു.

⁴എന്നാൽ അഹരോനെപ്പോലെ ദൈവം വിളിക്കുന്നവനല്ലാതെ ആരും ആ സ്ഥാനം സ്വതവെ എടുക്കുന്നില്ല.

⁵അവ്വണ്ണം ക്രിസ്തുവും മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ ആകുവാനുള്ള മഹത്വം സ്വതവെ എടുത്തിട്ടില്ല; “നീ എന്റെ പുത്രൻ ; ഇന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു”എന്നു അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തവൻ അവന്നു കൊടുത്തതത്രേ.

⁴⁷Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.

⁴⁸I am the bread of life.

⁴⁹Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.

⁵⁰This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.

⁵¹I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

⁵²The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

⁵³Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.

⁵⁴He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁵For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

⁵⁶He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.

⁵⁷As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will also live because of me.

⁵⁸This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

⁵⁹He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

⁴⁷ആമേൻ , ആമേൻ , ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളൊടു പറയുന്നു: വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു നിത്യജീവൻ ഉണ്ടു.

⁴⁸ഞാൻ ജീവന്റെ അപ്പം ആകുന്നു.

⁴⁹നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മന്നാ തിന്നിട്ടും മരിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

⁵⁰ഇതോ തിന്നുന്നവൻ മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങുന്ന അപ്പം ആകുന്നു.

⁵¹സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിയ ജീവനുള്ള അപ്പം ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു; ഈ അപ്പം തിന്നുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം എന്നേക്കും ജീവിക്കും; ഞാൻ കൊടുപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന അപ്പമോ ലോകത്തിന്റെ ജീവന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ കൊടുക്കുന്ന എന്റെ മാംസം ആകുന്നു.

⁵²ആകയാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാർ: നമുക്കു തന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നേണ്ടതിന്നു തരുവാൻ ഇവന്നു എങ്ങനെ കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തമ്മിൽ വാദിച്ചു.

⁵³യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ആമേൻ , ആമേൻ , ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നാതെയും അവന്റെ രക്തം കുടിക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഉള്ളിൽ ജീവൻ ഇല്ല.

⁵⁴എന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകയും എന്റെ രക്തം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു നിത്യജീവൻ ഉണ്ടു; ഞാൻ ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ അവനെ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിക്കും.

⁵⁵എന്റെ മാംസം സാക്ഷാൽ ഭക്ഷണവും എന്റെ രക്തം സാക്ഷാൽ പാനീയവും ആകുന്നു.

⁵⁶എന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകയും എന്റെ രക്തം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ എന്നിലും ഞാൻ അവനിലും വസിക്കുന്നു.

⁵⁷ജീവനുള്ള പിതാവു എന്നെ അയച്ചിട്ടു ഞാൻ പിതാവിൻ മൂലം ജീവിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ എന്നെ തിന്നുന്നവൻ എൻ മൂലം ജീവിക്കും.

⁵⁸സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന അപ്പം ഇതു ആകുന്നു; പിതാക്കന്മാർ തിന്നുകയും മരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അല്ല; ഈ അപ്പം തിന്നുന്നവൻ എന്നേക്കും ജീവിക്കും.

⁵⁹അവൻ കഫർന്നഹൂമിൽ ഉപദേശിക്കുമ്പോൾ പള്ളിയിൽവെച്ചു ഇതു പറഞ്ഞു.
