³⁶Then Jesus sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. His disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel weeds of the field.”

³⁷He answered them, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,

³⁸the field is the world, the good seeds are the children of the Kingdom, and the darnel weeds are the children of the evil one.

³⁹The enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.

⁴⁰As therefore the darnel weeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so will it be at the end of this age.

⁴¹The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all things that cause stumbling and those who do iniquity,

⁴²and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴³Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

³⁶അനന്തരം യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടു വീട്ടിൽ വന്നു, ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: വയലിലെ കളയുടെ ഉപമ തെളിയിച്ചുതരേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു:

³⁷“നല്ല വിത്തു വിതെക്കുന്നവൻ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ ;

³⁸വയൽ ലോകം; നല്ലവിത്തു രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ;

³⁹കള ദുഷ്ടന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ; അതു വിതെച്ച ശത്രു പിശാചു; കൊയ്ത്തു ലോകാവസാനം;

⁴⁰കൊയ്യുന്നവർ ദൂതന്മാർ കള കൂട്ടി തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുടുംപോലെ ലോകാവസാനത്തിൽ സംഭവിക്കും.

⁴¹മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയക്കും; അവർ അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിൽനിന്നു എല്ലാ ഇടർച്ചകളെയും അധർമ്മം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരെയും കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു

⁴²തീച്ചൂളയിൽ ഇട്ടുകളയുകയും, അവിടെ കരച്ചലും പല്ലുകടിയും ഉണ്ടാകും.

⁴³അന്നു നീതിമാന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിൽ സൂര്യനെപ്പോലെ പ്രകാശിക്കും. ചെവിയുള്ളവൻ കേൾക്കട്ടെ.

²⁴He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field,

²⁵but while people slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel weeds also among the wheat, and went away.

²⁶But when the blade sprang up and produced grain, then the darnel weeds appeared also.

²⁷The servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where did these darnel weeds come from?’

²⁸“He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’

²⁹“But he said, ‘No, lest perhaps while you gather up the darnel weeds, you root up the wheat with them.

³⁰Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers, “First, gather up the darnel weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ”

³¹He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took, and sowed in his field,

³²which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.”

³³He spoke another parable to them. “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until it was all leavened.”

³⁴Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the multitudes; and without a parable, he didn’t speak to them,

³⁵that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

²⁴അവൻ മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ അവർക്കും പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു: “സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ നിലത്തു നല്ല വിത്തു വിതെച്ചതിനോടു സദൃശമാകുന്നു.

²⁵മനുഷ്യർ ഉറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ശത്രു വന്നു, കോതമ്പിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ കള വിതെച്ചു പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു.

²⁶ഞാറു വളർന്നു കതിരായപ്പോൾ കളയും കാണായ്‍വന്നു.

²⁷അപ്പോൾ വീട്ടുടയവന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: യജമാനനേ, വയലിൽ നല്ലവിത്തല്ലയോ വിതെച്ചതു? പിന്നെ കള എവിടെനിന്നു വന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

²⁸ഇതു ശത്രു ചെയ്തതാകുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി അതു പറിച്ചുകൂട്ടുവാൻ സമ്മതമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ദാസന്മാർ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

²⁹അതിന്നു അവൻ : ഇല്ല, പക്ഷേ കള പറിക്കുമ്പോൾ കോതമ്പും കൂടെ പിഴുതുപോകും.

³⁰രണ്ടുംകൂടെ കൊയ്ത്തോളം വളരട്ടെ; കൊയ്ത്തു കാലത്തു ഞാൻ കൊയ്യുന്നവരോടു മുമ്പെ കളപറിച്ചു കൂട്ടി ചുട്ടുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നു കെട്ടുകളായി കെട്ടുവാനും കോതമ്പു എന്റെ കളപ്പുരയിൽ കൂട്ടിവെപ്പാനും കല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.”

³¹മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ അവൻ അവർക്കും പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു: “സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം കടുകുമണിയോടു സദൃശം; അതു ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ എടുത്തു തന്റെ വയലിൽ ഇട്ടു.

³²അതു എല്ലാവിത്തിലും ചെറിയതെങ്കിലും വളർന്നു സസ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുതായി, ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവകൾ വന്നു അതിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളിൽ വസിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം വൃക്ഷമായി തീരുന്നു.”

³³അവൻ മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം പുളിച്ച മാവിനോടു സദൃശം; അതു ഒരു സ്ത്രീ എടുത്തു മൂന്നുപറ മാവിൽ എല്ലാം പുളിച്ചുവരുവോളം അടക്കിവെച്ചു.”

³⁴ഇതു ഒക്കെയും യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തോടു ഉപമകളായി പറഞ്ഞു; ഉപമ കൂടാതെ അവരോടു ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല

³⁵“ഞാൻ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാൻ വായ്തുറക്കും; ലോകസ്ഥാപനം മുതൽ ഗൂഢമായതു ഉച്ചരിക്കും” എന്നു പ്രവാചകൻ പറഞ്ഞതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.

¹My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

²My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer;

³But you are holy,

⁴Our fathers trusted in you.

⁵They cried to you, and were delivered.

⁶But I am a worm, and no man;

⁷All those who see me mock me.

⁸“He trusts in Yahweh.

⁹But you brought me out of the womb.

¹⁰I was thrown on you from my mother’s womb.

¹¹Don’t be far from me, for trouble is near.

¹²Many bulls have surrounded me.

¹³They open their mouths wide against me,

¹⁴I am poured out like water.

¹⁵My strength is dried up like a potsherd.

¹⁶For dogs have surrounded me.

¹⁷I can count all of my bones.

¹⁸They divide my garments among them.

¹⁹But don’t be far off, Yahweh.

²⁰Deliver my soul from the sword,

²¹Save me from the lion’s mouth!

¹എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, നീ എന്നെ കൈവിട്ടതെന്തു? എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കാതെയും എന്റെ ഞരക്കത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേൾക്കാതെയും അകന്നു നിലക്കുന്നതെന്തു?

²എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, ഞാൻ പകൽസമയത്തു വിളിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും നീ ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നില്ല; രാത്രികാലത്തും ഞാൻ വിളിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു ഒട്ടും മൌനതയില്ല.

³യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സ്തുതികളിന്മേൽ വസിക്കുന്നവനേ, നീ പരിശുദ്ധനാകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

⁴ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നിങ്കൽ ആശ്രയിച്ചു; അവർ ആശ്രയിക്കയും നീ അവരെ വിടുവിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

⁵അവർ നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു രക്ഷപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവർ നിങ്കൽ ആശ്രയിച്ചു, ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോയതുമില്ല.

⁶ഞാനോ മനുഷ്യനല്ല, ഒരു കൃമിയത്രേ; മനുഷ്യരുടെ ധിക്കാരവും ജനത്താൽ നിന്ദിതനും തന്നേ.

⁷എന്നെ കാണുന്നവരൊക്കെയും എന്നെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; അവർ അധരം മലർത്തി തല കുലുക്കുന്നു;

⁸യഹോവയിങ്കൽ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ സമർപ്പിക്ക! അവൻ അവനെ രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ! അവൻ അവനെ വിടുവിക്കട്ടെ! അവനിൽ പ്രസാദമുണ്ടല്ലോ.

⁹നീയല്ലോ എന്നെ ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചവൻ ; എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ മുല കുടിക്കുമ്പോൾ നീ എന്നെ നിർഭയം വസിക്കുമാറാക്കി.

¹⁰ഗർഭപാത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്കൽ ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ ഉദരംമുതൽ നീ എന്റെ ദൈവം.

¹¹കഷ്ടം അടുത്തിരിക്കയാൽ എന്നെ വിട്ടകന്നിരിക്കരുതേ; സഹായിപ്പാൻ മറ്റാരുമില്ലല്ലോ.

¹²അനേകം കാളകൾ എന്നെ വളഞ്ഞു; ബാശാൻ കൂറ്റന്മാർ എന്നെ ചുറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹³ബുഭുക്ഷയോടെ അലറുന്ന സിംഹംപോലെ അവർ എന്റെ നേരെ വായ് പിളർക്കുംന്നു.

¹⁴ഞാൻ വെള്ളംപോലെ തൂകിപ്പോകുന്നു; എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെല്ലാം ബന്ധം വിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ഹൃദയം മെഴുകുപോലെ ആയി എന്റെ കുടലിന്റെ നടുവെ ഉരുകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁵എന്റെ ശക്തി ഔട്ടുകഷണംപോലെ ഉണങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ നാവു അണ്ണാക്കോടു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നീ എന്നെ മരണത്തിന്റെ പൊടിയിൽ ഇട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁶നായ്ക്കൾ എന്നെ വളഞ്ഞു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടം എന്നെ ചുറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ എന്റെ കൈകളെയും കാലുകളെയും തുളെച്ചു.

¹⁷എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളൊക്കെയും എനിക്കു എണ്ണാം; അവർ എന്നെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കുന്നു.

¹⁸എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവർ പകുത്തെടുത്തു, എന്റെ അങ്കിക്കായി അവർ ചീട്ടിടുന്നു.

¹⁹നീയോ, യഹോവേ, അകന്നിരിക്കരുതേ; എന്റെ തുണയായുള്ളോവേ, എന്നെ സഹായിപ്പാൻ വേഗം വരേണമേ.

²⁰വാളിങ്കൽനിന്നു എന്റെ പ്രാണനെയും നായുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു എന്റെ ജീവനെയും വിടുവിക്കേണമേ.

²¹സിംഹത്തിന്റെ വായിൽനിന്നു എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ; കാട്ടുപോത്തുകളുടെ കൊമ്പുകൾക്കിടയിൽ നീ എനിക്കു ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നു.

¹Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances which I teach you, to do them, that you may live and go in and possess the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, gives you.

²You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you.

³Your eyes have seen what Yahweh did because of Baal Peor; for Yahweh your God has destroyed all the men who followed Baal Peor from among you.

⁴But you who were faithful to Yahweh your God are all alive today.

⁵Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Yahweh my God commanded me, that you should do so in the middle of the land where you go in to possess it.

⁶Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who shall hear all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

¹ഇപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേലേ, നിങ്ങൾ ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പാനും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശം ചെന്നു കൈവശമാക്കുവാനും തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും കേൾപ്പിൻ.

²ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനകളെ നിങ്ങൾ പ്രമാണിക്കേണം. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന വചനത്തോടു കൂട്ടുകയോ അതിൽനിന്നു കുറെക്കയോ ചെയ്യരുതു.

³ബാൽ-പെയോരിന്റെ സംഗതിയിൽ യഹോവ ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു: ബാൽ-പെയോരിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

⁴എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പറ്റിച്ചേർന്നിരുന്ന നിങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെയും ഇന്നു ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁵നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടപ്പാനായി എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഉപദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁶അവയെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടപ്പിൻ ; ഇതു തന്നേയല്ലോ ജാതികളുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതു. അവർ ഈ കല്പനകളൊക്കെയും കേട്ടിട്ടു: ഈ ശ്രേഷ്ഠജാതി ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും ഉള്ള ജനം തന്നേ എന്നു പറയും.

¹A wise son listens to his father’s instruction,

²By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things,

³He who guards his mouth guards his soul.

⁴The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing,

⁵A righteous man hates lies,

⁶Righteousness guards the way of integrity,

⁷There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing.

¹ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള മകൻ അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനഫലം; പരിഹാസിയോ ശാസന കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുന്നില്ല.

²തന്റെ വായുടെ ഫലത്താൽ മനുഷ്യൻ നന്മ അനുഭവിക്കും; ദ്രോഹികളുടെ ആഗ്രഹമോ സാഹസം തന്നേ.

³വായെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവൻ പ്രാണനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അധരങ്ങളെ പിളർക്കുംന്നവന്നോ നാശം ഭവിക്കും.

⁴മടിയൻ കൊതിച്ചിട്ടും ഒന്നും കിട്ടുന്നില്ല; ഉത്സാഹികളുടെ പ്രാണന്നോ പുഷ്ടിയുണ്ടാകും.

⁵നീതിമാൻ ഭോഷകു വെറുക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടനോ ലജ്ജയും നിന്ദയും വരുത്തുന്നു.

⁶നീതി സന്മാർഗ്ഗിയെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടതയോ പാപിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

⁷ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടും ധനികൻ എന്നു നടിക്കുന്നവൻ ഉണ്ടു; വളരെ ധനം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടും ദരിദ്രൻ എന്നു നടിക്കുന്നവനും ഉണ്ടു;

¹Behold, Yahweh makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants.

²It will be as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest.

³The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for Yahweh has spoken this word.

⁴The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades away. The lofty people of the earth languish.

⁵The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.

¹യഹോവ ഭൂമിയെ നിർജ്ജനവും ശൂന്യവും ആക്കി കീഴ്മേൽ മറിക്കയും അതിലെ നിവാസികളെ ചിതറിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

²ജനത്തിന്നും പുരോഹിതന്നും, ദാസന്നും യജമാനന്നും, ദാസിക്കും, യജമാനത്തിക്കും, കൊള്ളുന്നവന്നും വിലക്കുന്നവന്നും, കടം കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്നും കടം വാങ്ങുന്നവന്നും, പലിശ വാങ്ങുന്നവന്നും പലിശ കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്നും ഒരുപോലെ ഭവിക്കും.

³ഭൂമി അശേഷം നിർജ്ജനമായും കവർച്ചയായും പോകും; യഹോവയല്ലോ ഈ വചനം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു.

⁴ഭൂമി ദുഃഖിച്ചു വാടിപ്പോകുന്നു; ഭൂതലം ക്ഷയിച്ചു വാടിപ്പോകുന്നു;

⁵ഭൂമിയിലെ ഉന്നതന്മാർ ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോകുന്നു. ഭൂമി അതിലെ നിവാസികളാൽ മലിനമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ പ്രാമണങ്ങളെ ലംഘിച്ചു ചട്ടത്തെ മറിച്ചു നിത്യനിയമത്തിന്നു ഭംഗം വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹¹After three months, we set sail in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the island, whose figurehead was “The Twin Brothers.”

¹²Touching at Syracuse, we stayed there three days.

¹³From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

¹⁴where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

¹⁵From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

¹⁶When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

¹⁷After three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

¹⁸who, when they had examined me, desired to set me free, because there was no cause of death in me.

¹⁹But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything about which to accuse my nation.

²⁰For this cause therefore I asked to see you and to speak with you. For because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.”

²¹They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

²²But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

¹¹മൂന്നു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ആ ദ്വീപിൽ ശീതകാലം കഴിച്ചു കിടന്നിരുന്ന അശ്വനി ചിഹ്നമുള്ളോരു അലെക്സ ന്ത്രിയകപ്പലിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ കയറി പുറപ്പെട്ടു,

¹²സുറക്കൂസയിൽ കരെക്കിറിങ്ങി മൂന്നു നാൾ പാർത്തു; അവിടെ നിന്നു ചുറ്റി ഔടി രേഗ്യൊനിൽ എത്തി.

¹³ഒരു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു തെക്കങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചതിനാൽ പിറ്റേന്നു പുത്യൊലിയിൽ എത്തി.

¹⁴അവിടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഏഴു നാൾ താമസിക്കേണം എന്നു അവൻ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ റോമയിൽ എത്തി.

¹⁵അവിടത്തെ സഹോദരന്മാർ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വർത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു അപ്യപുരവും ത്രിമണ്ഡപവും വരെ ഞങ്ങളെ എതിരേറ്റു വന്നു; അവരെ കണ്ടിട്ടു പൗലൊസ് ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തി ധൈര്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

¹⁶റോമയിൽ എത്തിയശേഷം തനിക്കു കാവലായ പടയാളിയോടുകൂടെ വേറിട്ടു പാർപ്പാൻ പൗലൊസിന്നു അനുവാദം കിട്ടി.

¹⁷മൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരിൽ പ്രധാനികളായവരെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. അവർ വന്നുകൂടിയപ്പോൾ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാൻ ജനത്തിന്നോ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആചാരങ്ങൾക്കോ വിരോധം ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലാതിരിക്കെ എന്നെ യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു ബദ്ധനായി റോമക്കാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

¹⁸അവർ വിസ്തരിച്ചാറെ മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും എന്നിൽ കാണായ്കയാൽ എന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ അവർക്കും മനസുണ്ടായിരുന്നു

¹⁹എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാർ എതിർപറകയാൽ ഞാൻ കൈസരെ അഭയം ചൊല്ലേണ്ടിവന്നു; എന്റെ ജാതിയുടെ നേരെ അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു യാതൊന്നും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടല്ലതാനും.

²⁰ഇതു ഹേതുവായി നിങ്ങളെ കണ്ടു സംസാരിക്കേണം എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശനിമിത്തം ആകുന്നു ഞാൻ ഈ ചങ്ങല ചുമക്കുന്നതു.

²¹അവർ അവനോടു; നിന്റെ സംഗതിക്കു യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ നിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുത്തു വരികയോ സഹോദരന്മാരിൽ ആരും വന്നു നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു യാതൊരു ദോഷവുംപറകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

²²എങ്കിലും ഈ മതഭേദത്തിന്നു എല്ലായിടത്തും വിരോധം പറയുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നതിനാൽ നിന്റെ മതം ഇന്നതു എന്നു നീ തന്നേ പറഞ്ഞുകേൾപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?

²Don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

³Don’t you know that we will judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

⁴If then you have to judge things pertaining to this life, do you set them to judge who are of no account in the assembly?

⁵I say this to move you to shame. Isn’t there even one wise man among you who would be able to decide between his brothers?

⁶But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers!

⁷Therefore it is already altogether a defect in you that you have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?

⁸No, but you yourselves do wrong and defraud, and that against your brothers.

⁹Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals,

¹⁰nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.

¹¹Some of you were such, but you were washed. You were sanctified. You were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരുത്തന്നു മറ്റൊരുത്തനോടു ഒരു കാർയ്യം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ അല്ല, അഭക്തന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വ്യവഹാരത്തിന്നു പോകുവാൻ തുനിയുന്നുവോ?

²വിശുദ്ധന്മാർ ലോകത്തെ വിധിക്കും എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? ലോകത്തെ നിങ്ങൾ വിധിക്കുമെങ്കിൽ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ സംഗതികളെ വിധിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങൾ അയോഗ്യരോ?

⁶അല്ല, സഹോദരൻ സഹോദരനോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കുന്നു; അതും അവിശ്വാസികളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ തന്നേ.

⁷നിങ്ങൾക്കു തമ്മിൽ വ്യവഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നതു തന്നേ കേവലം പോരായ്മയാകുന്നു; അതിന്നു പകരം നിങ്ങൾ അന്യായം സഹിച്ചുകൊള്ളാത്തതു എന്തു? നഷ്ടം ഏറ്റുകൊള്ളാത്തതു എന്തു?

¹⁰കള്ളന്മാർ, അത്യാഗ്രഹികൾ, മദ്യപന്മാർ, വാവിഷ്ഠാണക്കാർ, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാർ എന്നിവർ ദൈവരാജ്യം അവകാശമാക്കുകയില്ല.

¹¹നിങ്ങളും ചിലർ ഈ വകക്കാരായിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങൾ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിലും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനാലും നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ കഴുകി ശുദ്ധീകരണവും നീതീകരണവും പ്രാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁷He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,

⁸“When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,

⁹and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.

¹⁰But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.

¹¹For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

⁷ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ മുഖ്യാസനങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവൻ അവരോടു ഒരുപമ പറഞ്ഞു:

⁸ഒരുത്തൻ നിന്നെ കല്യാണത്തിന്നു വിളിച്ചാൽ മുഖ്യാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കരുതു; പക്ഷെ നിന്നിലും മാനമേറിയവനെ അവൻ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കാം.

⁹പിന്നെ നിന്നെയും അവനെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചവൻ വന്നു: ഇവന്നു ഇടം കൊടുക്ക എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറയുമ്പോൾ നീ നാണത്തോടെ ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തുപോയി ഇരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

¹⁰നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാൽ ചെന്നു ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്ക; നിന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവൻ വരുമ്പോൾ നിന്നോടു: സ്നേഹിതാ, മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു ഇരിക്ക എന്നുപറവാൻ ഇടവരട്ടെ; അപ്പോൾ പന്തിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നിനക്കു മാനം ഉണ്ടാകും.

¹¹തന്നെത്താൻ ഉയർത്തുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തുന്നവൻ ഉയർത്തപ്പെടും.
